2 more days to go til I'm on a plane, headed to Jakarta!

It is a much and long anticipated trip. A well deserved one at that too! Work has just been beating me to death, so I'm gonna make the best of this vacation time! I think the last trip I took was to Malaysia during Chinese New Year's...hm...Yup...a few months ago..Christ! I need to get out of the COUNTRY ASAP!

Been hearing a lot of things about Jakarta and I'm so looking forward to eating crap loads of food, hanging with Nove and her friends. It will definitely be a memorable trip and experience.

Had to prepare some stuff, but now that it's done, I can just relax, pack, head to the airport and BOOM...I'm on a plane leaving Singapore. Of course not forgetting to stop by the DFS first haha!

I wonder what's installed for me..I wonder what Nove's got on her mind? (lol)

One of my friend's said to just eat as much as possible cuz the food is just amazing and CHEAP aswell...but i worry of course...I'm afraid i won't be able to fit into my work clothes or yet alone my pyjamas afterwards!!

Oh well...what's a vacation without eating, sleeping and shopping right? If no one can recognize me after I return, then well, so be it =P

Oh man!

it's been hell of a long time since i've blogged! Nonetheless, it has not been forgotten.

It has been a busy time but it is no excuse to not keep this updated. Be it a day, a week but a couple of months? that's just too long!

Not to worry all...I will definitely continue to update this site from now on. It won't be on a daily basis but hopefully on a weekly.

Just remember to keep on coming back. I plan to have more entries and pictures up within the next month or so.

Oh...for those that don't know..I'm headed to Jakarta on the 18th of June. Hope to take a lot of pictures and bring back some worthy stories to share.

Shanghai?

Well....

Shanghai..why the topic you ask?

Well, it's simple..I hope to hit up Shanghai for a vacation sometime in June this year.

Why?

Well..besides having a friend going down to learn Chinese for 6 months in February..I've heard crazy reviews about this glittering city.

Besides the shopping and amazing night scene, i guess i really wanna go and breathe in some of that Asian culture and where better than in China! I haven't been to Shanghai before, so it definitely will be a unforgettable experience.

I've been to Beijing, but was too young to really remember anything. Guangzhou is a place that I've been to, one too many times. I guess the small provinces isn't a place a city boy like myself, so hit up the next best place..Shanghai right?

lol...of course I'm planning on stopping over in Hong Kong first or after, just because...I LOVE HK! haha i feel like such a FOB, but who gives a rats ass! HK is just an amazing city...I just LOVE the place to bits!

Anyhoo, anyone have any recommendations on where to go and what to see in Shanghai? it would be a great help in the planning of this trip yo! Any suggestions and feedback will be much appreciated!

well, I'm out, it's been hectic at work and need to get some well deserved rest. I'll try to keep this blog updated as frequent as possible, it's just getting difficult with crazy work hours and stuff..

It's been a hectic start of the year.

Mainly, work. I guess it's time to buck up and start performing on a totally different level now. It's not like school where you can chill and whatever. With all the changes and new styles of management, work is going to be tough yet educational in many ways.

I guess the whole fact of the matter is that I hope to progress and learn much more in the near future. I know I will be learning new techniques and styles it's just a matter of how long it will take to absorb and notice it. The only thing that needs to be done is a little change of mindset on my end and start working towards a goal instead of just thinking about a monthly paycheck. It's more of a journey and survival trait and I definitely feel the tension.

I know it's gonna be hard, you just gotta endure, if ya know what I mean.

Well...tmr marks the last day of 2008!

Much things have happen..good and bad!

Of course the best thing that happen would be Nove entering my life. It has been a blessing and has made the worst days look like peanuts! It definitely has changed my life around and made my days so meaningful.

Things that have happened:

- moved 3 times
- delays in getting my S-Pass
- Going broke too many months
- Getting weird phone calls from a company in Canada
- Phone breakdowns (5 times)

It doesn't seem like much, but it was mind devastating!

Oh well, now that the year of the Rat is over, maybe I will be able to pass the next few years more peacefully...or so my father says.. ?

Anyhoo...

Gonna head for a karaoke session with my Colleagues tmr to celebrate a colleagues b-day. After that, I'm gonna head to this Australian inspired bistro @ Raffles City. Not too sure who's gonna be there at the moment. Probably gonna spend the count down there since it's opened til like 2am. Nothing special, just have a few drinks, chill and talk shit i guess.

Like i said, I hate this time of year. I am so not looking forward to the end of 2009, it's just gonna replay itself again =)

Well, it's that time again of the year...

It's been a better experience this year as I have Nove to celebrate it with. Nothing special is planned but to know that she's here and to be with me is just fine! At least I won't be alone this time round. Right? ya..(lol)

I just got back from having a Japanese Buffet Lunch with my colleagues from work. There wasn't anything special going around, just gift exchanges and some small chat over a good meal.

Anyhoo....

Though i'm a x-mas Grinch and all...I still feel the need to wish everyone a...

the holiday season is around the corner and my mood swings are coming around again. I FUCKING HATE CHRISTMAS AND NEW YEARS!!!!!

Much has to do with the past, even though i haven't experienced a 'bad' x-mas and new years in a long long time, it's just the memories that keep popping out from no where! god dammit..i need psychiatric help (laughs)

It's horrid. I think it will take much 'great' holiday seasons to past before I stop being so grouchy around this time of year. Worst thing is that Chinese New Year's is around the corner, which is really starting to PISS THE FUCK OUT OF ME!!!

After the x-mas, new years and CNY, things will feel much better.

I guess I really hate the whole x-mas shopping thing, the whole big woo haa from new years and the whole family gatherings and loud ass music that gets played around chinese new years. I'm just your typical old grouch i guess...but whatever ~

It has been so long since i've blogged! I totally forgot that I even had one haha lol!

Sorry folks. Anyways, it doesn't really seem like I have much readers right? lol, prove me wrong folks!! =P

Anyhoo...not much has been going on..been busy with work and what nots! Year end seems to be the most dreadful time of the year. I hate Christmas and the new years. Big ass celebrations that drain out everyone's energy and cash...what's the point? Oh well, I just get extremely moody during this time of year..i guess you could call me a grinch or whatever...who gives a rats ass!

The only thing that I guess I really need to say is, I'll be moving again in a weeks time. Not far though, just to the next estate. This aunty I'm currently staying with is the bitchiest and most angriest person I have ever met!! I can't stand her and every time I talk about her, there's this fire inside of me that wants to explode!!! that's how bad it is...This will be my third time moving this year and I hope it will be the last time, at least for the next year! The new place i'm moving into seems alot better. Can't wait to get out of this hell hole!!

Lastly, Nove is back in Jakrata for her holidays! It's gonna be a boring 2 weeks or so. I hope she's having a blast and hasn't forgotten about me haha jokes! Can't wait for her to come back!! *Miss you hun*

HAPPY B-DAY NOVE!!!! LOVE YA!!!!

Spent the weekend at Swissotel the Stamford for 4 days, 3 nights. The experience itself wasn't the greatest. It definitely could have been a lot better. However, i didn't let minor things get in the way of a great weekend. Got to spend 4 great days with Nove and it was just delightful.

We had a small party with Nove's friend on Saturday night. Drank, talked, played games...pretty normal stuff. Ended up finishing a bottle of Smirnoff, 18 Cans of Beer, 2 bottles of Soju (Korean Rice Wine) and a bottle of Red Wine. Pretty intense for 9 people. 2 ended up drunk the rest were quite fine. It was an interesting night though haha. (Photos will be uploaded soon)

I hope Nove had a great time though. I hope she was happy, that's all that matters to me anyways.

B: if your reading this, I just wanna say thank you for being there, blessing me and most importantly, loving me. Life has definetly gone a different road since we've been together and I love the way it's headed. I hope you had a great b-day and I hope to spend it with you for the rest of our lives!! Love you hun!

So, what's up with Swissotel the Stamford? hm...

I don't want to go much into details, but some examples are:

- taking almost 45 min to receive sliced lemons
- long check-in
- staff not so friendly
- no greetings
- no smiles

basically, the basic needs and expectations of a 5 star hotel was not up to par. I definitely was expecting much more. It was kind of a disappointment and an embarrassment. I won't hold this matter and issue as a grudge and be bias to others who ask about it. I'll just tell them about my experience and let them go and try it out for themselves. Who knows...they may have a much better experience then I did...right?

Though these 'gifts' were hand-me downs, I'll just take whatever I could squeeze from my dad. They are a bit out of date, but whatever...

The Camera has since stop production, but the picture quality and functions seem to be quite good - very similar to the T700. The only downside is that it's thicker then the T700. Oh well, who is to complain. At least now I have a camera =) haha

The IPhone is well an iphone. Since the big 'hoohaa' of the iphone, I still can't figure out the big idea. At the end of the day, it's still a phone. Even though I am not a big fan of the iphone, I just took it anyways. Remember, the main motive behind this trip was to 'squeeze' haha...*evil grin*

Anyways, the phone doesn't even work in Singapore. I'm still awaiting my dad to send me this rubber thing to unlock my local sim card. So it's gonna be quite a while before I even turn it on again. Til then, I'm just gonna use it to browse the net while I am in bed. =)

Nokia e71

Nove and I just got this phone about a month ago. It's a really great phone for the price we paid. I am still not a fan of Nokia, but I must say that they did a great job on this one.

It has some great functions. The business applications are great and handy for everyday work. The wifi keeps me connected and the keyboard makes e-mailing and smsing a breeze. So much more easy to use then the iphone and omnia. The BIG BIG BIG plus, which initially made me dislike Nokia phones, is that this one isn't laggy. I am free to search and use the phone without having to wait like 20 seconds for an application to load.

Overall, great phone with great value.

God...I wish I could just stay here....it's gonna be so boring!! Work has been so tiring that I just wanna stay in bed and sleep all day. I haven't had a good 8 hrs sleep all week....i guess that's the life of a working adult eh? haha ...shitty!

Anyhoo...the bright side is that I get to meet up with Alan tmr morning for brunch or lunch?

It's been awhile since i've seen him, so atleast we'll have some time to catch up and talk a bit!

It's been a while and I'm sorry everyone. It's been a crazy period and it's hard to find time to do anything drastic. I wanna drink and get crunked, but I just get soo tired over the weekends, I just don't have the mood to go anymore. weird...i guess the age is catching up with me lol!!

I'll be headed to Malaysia next Friday on the 17th for my Grandpa's B-day.

Luckily I was able to apply for leave cuz it's been hectic at work. The end of the year is always peak season so i'm quite happy my director approved the leave.

However, I don't really feel like going back. It's gonna be fucking tiring and boring. I gotta travel from here to the airport in JB, then take a flight to my hometown. Furthermore, my hometown is such a bore that there is nothing to do...AT ALL!!!

It's gonna be a boring weekend and I'm dreading it already....dammit!

Anyhoo...

I'm starting to mix up some things at work. Trying to bring in a different flavor, if you may. I got loads of new fresh ideas to bring up and it's gonna be hard work. I'm trying to incorporate a lot of IT work and some new fresh marketing ideas. It's difficult in such a large organization because you gotta go through a lot of departments and get approval from different sectors of the company. Mainly, i gotta pass the hierarchy up to the EAM to approve my ideas and proposals. Which in hand, will take quite a bit of time.

But if everything goes well and smooth, I'll be gifted with the warmth of satisfaction. I just hope there will be minor hiccups and a much smoother path way to get my ideas passed through.

Some of them are:

- new e-mail proposal formats
- new marketing brochure EG. sales kits
- Higher quality images for references
- incorporating external sources EG. bands and contractors
- Organizing the filing methods
- stronger communication methods

etc etc..

I got a lot of ideas, but I just need to find a way to get them heard and written into a proper proposal format. It's gonna be tough, with the layouts and writing. It's gonna be like going back to school for a period of time.

argh...dreadful but it should be satisfying haha!

Since the F1 is now officially over, I'll have more time to concentrate on work and life itself. It's gonna be a crazy, hopefully fun, year end. On top of all that, I may be playing a big roll in the Hotel's annual Christmas Tree Auction, which should be fun and exciting. On the plus, it would look good on my future resume too...can't wait to see what happens.

Overall, work is good and fun. Can't wait to shine and show my abilities.

24 years of age!

OH MY FUCKING GOD!!!

I am now officially, 24 years of fucking age!!

Bones rotting, mind thinking slower and hearing getting worsened. It's just the way of life...right?

oh god, please tell me this is the way. I can SO feel everything starting to slow down and my flow of thoughts are just starting to disperse!

If this is what is intended with the circle of life, then i guess i'll just have to fucking deal with it!!

anyhoo...

- Last Saturday, on the 13th, Nove and I went to Meritus Mandarin for a anniversary cum b-day dinner. The buffet wasn't that great. I wouldn't recommended to people, unless they lowered the price from 75++ to about 35? hahaha. There was a nice scenary however, but it just wasn't up to par with other hotels. After the dinner, we headed to watch a movie. Great night to spend with Nove as i wasn't working the next day. Just perfect in everyway!

- On Thursday, the 18th, I was surprised by my colleagues at work right after our morning meeting. They came in with a mango cake from Ah Teng's a some nice presents. I was so surprised, as i didn't find any suspicious actions going around the office prior to my b-day. I don't know how they managed to plan everything but i as very grateful. It has been awhile since i received a b-day cake, so that was pleasant. I got 2 boxers and a pair of cuff links from Raoul, which was definetely a nice treat. Thx folks in Catering Sales!! Much appreciated!!

- On Friday, the 19th, was a fun night. Finally got to meet some of my friends and catch up. It was a pretty interesting night. Getting to know what some of my ex-classmates were up to and finding out that many of them did not stay within the hospitality industry. It was kind of shocking but kind of expected as well. I don't really know how to explain it but ya...

So after a good meal at Nic's steamboat place, we headed to Fairmont, where Eunice booked a room. I was amazed at how BIG the shower head was!! oh my fucking shit balls. It's huge! I wanted to take it home, haha! I got a pen and name card holder from Mat, which was very nice. Thx alot Mat for the gift!

After that, we split our ways the next day and I headed to meet Nove for food and movies. We ended up watching Mirrors and Step Brothers. Mirrors was alright, Step Brothers was good - funny as hell! I advise you to go and watch Step Brothers asap if you haven't already done so..

[SONG] New Kids on The Block - Stare At You

So...there's about 3 days til my b-day and well...all i feel is OLD!

i mean 24 is still young right? right? oh god..

However, working and trying to manage time is making me age 100 times faster then most. I can feel my bones starting to rot and mold all at the same time. It's amazing how time catches up with you. Now i understand why my mom was always so tired from working. Up until i was 21, i felt that i had the energy to do whatever, whenever! now it's all my what time will i get to hit the bed and how much sleep will i have before i have to get up.

I wish i was as energetic as i was before, but i'm not and that's a fact i'm going to have to live with!!

I'm going to start doing some exercises' at home...nothing big and fancy - just small ones to keep my muscles stronger and my body a bit more fit. I know it's funny, especially coming from me (HAHA), but it's something i'm going to have to do if i wanna keep up with time. They say the more you exercise the longer your stamina, so i'm gonna give it a wift and see how it goes.

On thursday, when i officially become 24, I see a world and a life that is unchanged. Living the way i do and doing the things i do makes me wonder what more can come out of this life. Besides starting a family and growing old, there isn't much left. I have dreams and wishes but how much of it will come true and how much of it will be accomplished? It's hard to follow a dream and i truly admire those that do!! A lot of sacrificing and hard work is what drives most people to chase what they want...as for me, i prefer to live a simple life rather then chasing something that may be unrealistic.

Life...what does it mean? growing old and having a family? living each day like it was the last? dreaming about something that will not happen? going about a regular joe's lifestyle? no one knows for sure. I guess each individual has to come up with their own answer.

For me, it's growing old and having a nice family to return to each and every day. Having a wife that cares and awaits my arrival. Having a nice cooked meal when i walk through the door. A typical story book, tv drama kind of life. Nothing fancy dancy about the whole thing. Just a normal and fruitful life!

24..what a number. It makes you think and realize! looking back at my past and the experiences i have gained really makes me grateful. I bring me with so much learnings and experiences that one may have never gone through. It is something that i will carry forth with me. Once i pass the mark of 24, everything will start to shift and turn for the better of my future. No more looking back and thinking what i should have done instead, now it's all about looking forward and thinking about what i should do, how to do it and going for it!

It funny how most people chase a dream after they realize they've aged. Not wanting to waste their lives as a hag and bum. It's hitting me slowly and i believe it's time to start going forth and becoming someone i never pictured myself to be in the past!

think about it...i sure do, every morning on the train to work! i've come up with a solution that only i will bare within me! good luck to all your soul searching! it will be quite a journey ahead!

the first week

So the first week back to work was well...pretty much the same, lol!

Besides having a bit more daily duties, i am now part of ever discussion, input and update. Last time when i was there as a trainee, it did not matter if i was there or not, they would still continue with what needed to be said and done. Now if i am not around, they wait. It's kind of overwhelming, but it feels good to belong.

I recommended some changes that needed to be done with the social and weddings side, which has made me stand out a bit more. My managers and directors seemed impressed that i want to help out with some improvements almost right away. I'm in charge of the new e-mail templates and proposals and configuration of some new packages. It's fun because i can feel a sense of empowerment and belonging which makes me feel good to go to work.

The only thing that would make things really great right now would be if i had a larger wardrobe and tie collection, haha!! It's tiring and hard to wear a limited amount of work clothes. Trying to keep up with the laundry is already a mission, but having the lack of outfits to mix and match is so embarrassing. Did i mention i only have one suite? which makes it really hard for me to take for dry cleaning. It's been so long since it has been really cleaned. I need a NEW SUITE!!!!

Anyhoo..i'm glad that this is a slow period and that the work days are cut to 5-days a week. It gives me more time to rest and learn. When december comes...i'm pretty much screwed as every weekend is packed with weddings and events. It's going to be one hell of a month!

So anyways...not much about work, since i've been through it before, blogged about it somewhere here and well...at the end of the day, it's just work!

a new start

starting in a few hours..i'll be going back to Raffles Hotel Singapore to work full time. Due to the fact that i was on a mini holiday, my sleep rotation has been turned upside down, hence the insomnia right now.

It's like 4:11am and i need to be at work @ 8:30am. I can't seem to sleep and all that is on my mind right now is Desperate Housewives. That's right! you heard me, Desperate Housewives.

I'm so excited to get back to work, and at the same time so un-excited! I guess because now i know i'll be bringing in a stable income and i'll be doing something with my time rather then rotting at home and shit. However, the downside is that, it's well, work!! Enough said right? haha.

Raffles hotel and the team at Catering Sales have been so patient and understanding. Knowing that i had a thesis to complete and loads of tasks that needed to be done before obtaining my S-Pass, they held the fort down and awaited my return. I owe them so much and i don't even know who to start thanking for this great opportunity.

After 2 months of leaving, i heard much has changed. The office organization has changed and there are many new faces. The most exciting part of the change is that when i go back, they just implemented 5 day weeks. Which means....i have my WEEEKENDS FREE!!!! what?!?! that's so ill. Friday nights would be crazy and the weekends would be super relaxed! Just gotta wait to get my first pay check before doing anything drastic haha! I've got so many things planned when i get my first pay check. I can't wait!!

I hope all goes well within the next 6 months. I hope to get back to part time studies early next year, so i hope that i can pick up and learn as much as possible before having to start my studies again. It's gonna be tough but i believe i can make it! it's all a state of mind!! haha ya right!

anyways...

Nove got me hooked on watching it online and now i can't seem to stop haha. I feel like such an aunty, tai tai, see lai, ah sum etc etc etc. My favorite character has to be Susan and Bree. I'll probably dedicate my next post to Desperate Housewives when i get the chance. I wanna get more in-depth with the episode before saying much haha. I'm up to seasons 2 episode 5 so it won't be long!!

Thesis is completed and submitted, finished moving, submitted social visit pass extension....

It's been a crazy 3 weeks. Just when i was finishing up my thesis, i had to find a place to move. It was mad because they wanted me out asap. I thought i had a one month notice, but they told me only about 3 weeks before they were leaving the unit. So i had to source an agent and look for a room that was suitable to move in asap. It was difficult because most places require you to move-in in the beginning of the month. Luckily, with a week left, i was able to find a place to move in to.

The new place i'm staying at is about 3 min to Sengkang mrt, and is so much more cleaner and bigger then my old place. I'm quite happy i had to move, but it was tiring to view a number of unsuitable rooms that met my requirments. I'm kind of picky when it comes to looking for a place to stay, cuz well at the end of the day, i want that homly feeling. Fortunately, everything worked out and i was able to move in on the 15th.

The thesis was completed and submitted last week on the 13th. I was so worried that it was going to get rejected when i went to the admin, but luckily it wasn't. There are still so many people that have yet to submit their thesis's from DHM and HDHM. To think i thought i was extremely late as it was.

I'm very glad that part of my life is over. To think people have to write a 100k thesis, 30k was way too mad for me already. However, it's over so i hope i won't have to think about another thesis ever in my life again =)

So, i guess now all that awaits is the collection of my Attestation letter from school and using it to collect my s-pass from MOM. I can't wait to get back to work. Raffles has been chasing me like a hog. I can't seem to please everyone. it's hard.

Everytime i get calls from the HR and my colleagues asking when i will return to work and stuff is very stressful and tiring. It's hard to give an answer with no ending. I hate having to repeat myself over and over to different people. It sounds as it is my fault when clearly it isn't.

i hope all this stress will be over soon and i can get back to my life. I've been neglecting so many people because i've been so busy. Sorry to everyone that i am unable to meet up with recently. No hard feelings i hope. It's been rough times and i hope you can understand that.

So, while i was doing my thesis today, i decided why not take a little break =)

So...

it is when i decided to change the image of my desktop and finally install my new television.

I also ripped open a whole bunch of boxes looking for old textbooks because i heard that i can sell em for some cash. w00t. we all need cash don't we =)

On top of that, during the search for old textbooks, i started throwing away a lot of magazines and paper. I threw a lot but it does not seem like i have cleared up a lot of things. Strange.

anyways, i'm out...gonna head back to work after watching some shows on my brand new television. what...

I was watching their tour videos from Canada and some of the ones from the States. It made me feel home sick. Going to Western, Waterloo and St. George was like showing me a bit of home.

So i was surfing the net the other day and came across a interesting site.

It's like an asian friendster but with various official artists' profiles and links. You will be able to find profiles on Jin, Daniel Wu, Vaness and so much more. Most of them I would believe are from Hong Kong but there are some from other countries as well. I've also found profiles on local stars like Fiona Xie and Race Wong and some from Taiwan as well.

If your into Hong Kong actresses, actors and singers/rappers, then this site is for you. I've been able to find quite a bit of official blogs and stuff which have been quite an interesting read. I've just joined and it's been quite fun so far.

It kind of feels like linking up to the high society of chinese stars and such. It is free and it's easy to sign up too. Just check it out for yourself. You will be able to add photos, videos and blog too which is quite cool. The only main difference about this site compared to other social networking sites is that it links you up with stars and you will be able to communicate your msg to them directly if your a huge fan.

I'm quite addicted to it now, as i'm able to stay up to date on some of my interested stars' daily lives and such. I know it makes me seem a bit teeny bop and shit, but yo, what's so great in my life now? haha

Nightmare of Reports

So, it's coming to an end of attachment and I've got to submit 2 thesis'.

It's going to be so tough with the lack of time I have to do anything. 15,000 words for my Diploma and another 30, 000 words for my Higher Diploma is no fucking joke.

It's gonna take lots of cramming and thinking just to pull it off. I can write and type at a moderate speed, but it's the laziness, time and inconvenience that's gonna make it fucking hard.

I believe my thesis for my Diploma course shouldn't be that difficult. It's the one for my Higher Diploma that's gonna be a bitch. For the Diploma Paper, I can talk my way through shit and stories, but for the other, it's gonna be hard because it's pretty much a research paper!

god fucking dammit!

If anyone is finished and would like to help out, please, you are so welcome to do so haha.

Let's just say it's gonna be a fucking long month!

Work Work Work!

My life has been taken over....BY WORK!!!!!

Don't get me wrong..I love the work I do, but the time spent on it has really taken a toll on my life. I still have my weekends to chill and shit, but I just don't have the strength to do anything. Now I'm going to start following the managers around so I may not have my weekends much anymore too..the sad part is, I brought it upon myself because I wanted to learn more sob!

It's so hard to organize things too because last minute issues always pop up. However, the things I've learned and picked up seem to be really helpful. Keeping myself organized and responsible will definitely help me out in the future.

I can't wait til I have a holiday though. I plan to go on a nice trip with Nove. Maybe to HK or Bintan? depends on the time and how much money I have at that time. It will be great to relax and get out a bit. It's been so long since I've been on vacation ya know?

I'm gonna sign my contract next week and I hope my S-Pass is approved fast, easy and efficient. I can't afford to have any hiccups at this point. I need things to go smooth so I can start getting my life together. I need to do so much and save as much as possible at the same time. It's going to be difficult for the first few months but I believe I can do it especially with the support that Nove has given me.

Anyhoo..just a little update on what's going on.

I'll try my best to keep this blog alive, but it's getting difficult to find time to think and write.

Raffles Culinary Academy

Last Wednesday, 11th June, was an exciting day.

The catering sales team and I were privileged to join the Executive Assistant Manager, Mr Fabrice Blondeau for a night of fun and cooking.

We headed down to the Raffles Culinary Academy (RCA) around 7pm to join Chef Saifal from Raffles Grill and his helpers from different outlets.

Now imagine a bunch of office dressed people in a kitchen preparing a 2-course meal and not knowing a single thing about cooking. Awkward is a word that i would use rather then weird.

On the menu for the night was...(not fully in detail because I forgot what we made and I left the menu at work =) )

1) fried scampi with celery and apple salad
2) black angus beef with sauteed mushrooms and carrots
3) chocolate cake with white asparagus ice cream

The night started with a well prepared mise-en place on the training stations and a wonderful atmosphere. We started by observing the chef do his stuff in the kitchen, trying to pick up as much pointers before getting our hands dirty.

While enjoying Chef Saifal do his stuff, we sat back with a nice glass of wine and laughed and gocked at his work. While he quickly demonstrated how to prepare the various dishes, it was soon our turn.

Amazingly, our whole department can't really cook except for maybe one of the managers who is a mother of two. While we struggled to marinate, fry and actually get something cooking, the helpers were there by our side to guide us and help us so as to not burn or destroy anything (haha) it was a mess to begin with and a tad confusing - but FUN!

After cooking the appetizer and enjoying it with a glass of wine, we started the main course, which was much more easier because it was just a piece of meat lol. With the raw red meat in front of our eyes, we stared for a split second wondering what to do. After figuring out what we were suppose to do it was smooth sailing from there.

Overall, the fried Scampi and Angus Beef Steak were amazingly good. Giving the fact that we had to cook it on our own after a demo from the chef, I think it came out quite well. We had a bit of a dry conversation but it turned out to be a bit more relaxed little into the evening.

It was an experience that I won't forget. Having the time to spend with the team and getting to have some fun from work was really relaxing and enjoyable. Who knew cooking could be so much fun? but if my kitchen ended up the way it did that night everyday, I'd be dreading the clean up afterwards lol!

Anyhoo..enough words...here are some pictures from the night. There are a lot more, but for some reason the photographer said his memory stick fried or something and we couldn't extract all the photos, so pretty much all of them are from the beginning of the class.

[SONG] Usher - Love You Gently

It's been 3 weeks into Catering Sales and it has been great.

Besides the overtime work and load of paperwork to do, i really do enjoy myself. I seem to have found my calling. It will be a tiring career and stuff but i think it will be worth it after i get the hang of things...hopefully!!

I've learned a lot over the past 3 weeks and there's just so much more to go. I can't seem to find the brain space to squeeze all the information in at one go...i try but it's really tough. Even though it's brain stressing, i think i've been doing quite well.

I'm so worried that i won't have the time to sleep anymore haha kidding, but seriously, i'm trying to squeeze in some time to finish up my thesis for school. 15,000 for my Diploma and 30,000 for my Higher Diploma is nothing to be joking about. I think i have about 5 weeks left before it's due and i have pretty much nothing!!!!

A couple of more months before i start receiving my full-time pay checks. I can't wait. Though it's not much to really survive since i have to rent my own room and shit but it's good enough for the time being. It's a good starting wager compared to most jobs available in the hotel industry.

Can't wait til the end of tmr then i can really rest. My eye bags have doubled and it's not even a joke. I look so sleepy and tired everyday...i just need a good 15 hr sleep...more would be better hahahaha =P

oopsy daisy...

i TOTALLY forgot about this blog until i actually went to visit Alan's blog.

Shit!

I'm so sorry. If i never actually surfed the net today, i would have completely gotten about this blog for another week or so. My bad y'all!

Anyhoo....Catering Sales has been pretty good so far. However, preparing the signages, menus, buffet tags, tent cards and place cards are a fucking bitch. it literally took me the whole day to prepare for the functions for the next 3 days. I think i'll get better at it as time goes by but for now, it's a bit of a struggle.

The people are great at work. I love the environment. It's just so fun and it doesn't really seem like your working..especially when the the overtime starts to kick in.

However, it's gonna be a good time. I hope all goes well and i don't fuck anything up. It's just a matter of time before i start to go nuts with typing and computers though.

THE BEST PART IS....

i get alternate 5 day weeks. Which means this is that week hahaha...i love the feeling of knowing that i'll get my weekend off and public holidays. No doubt about it, office work isn't as easy as you think but it pays off after the week. believe me!

so...with that said...

I'm headed back to my Indiana Jones Marathon with Nove. It's wicked man! classic flicks are great! w00t!

To Nove...

It has been a blessing being you! Every moment that has been spent with you within these 2 months have been my glory days. It seems like we know each other way too well and there is still so much i want to show and say to you. You've become a part of my life so fast that it seems unbarable without you. I thank you for being there for me, caring for me and most importantly loving me the way you do.

The day amy told me that she had a friend that wanted to meet me was a total shocker. I never imagined that someone would want to meet me. It was a day that i would never forget. I'm so thankful to amy for introducing us and it has a been a godsent since. After that day, i never would have imagined that we would be together. Everytime spent with you was great and everything seemed so perfect!!

I know sometimes we have our disagreements but it's these lessons learnt from them that makes our relationship stronger and long lasting. I know i'm not the greatest person in the world, but i'm making the effort to give you everything you want. Without you to support me and give me the strength i need to proceed, i may just be wasting my life. Before coming to knowing you, everything was for myself and now with you, all i think about is what can i do or give to make you happy.

Nove...you mean so much more to me then you could ever realise. The day we got together seemed so untrue. I wanted to break out like a little boy in joy but i know it would be way too embarrassing for you. I was overwhelmed with joy that the world seemed to have stopped and it revolved around us. The esplanade now holds a very special venue for us and i will never forget the time we spent there - March 15th 2008 marks a day that will never be forgotten!

When we celebrated our first month anniversary, i can't tell you how nervous and scared i was. I was worried that you wouldn't have a good time, didn't like the food, didn't like the gift...so much negativity was coming into my head. I'm glad everything worked out because at the end of the night i realised being with you is all that i need. You made me so happy that i felt like i was the luckiest man in the world and that i would dominate everyone else. I know it sounds silly but it's the truth.

Over the past 2 months, i really thank you for standing by myside during all the hardships. I know it may seem difficult but i promise you that i will try my best to overcome them. I don't want my problems to become yours. I'm sorry. Remember i told you that i am here to take away all your pain, sadness, anger and unhappiness but i have failed to do so. Burdening you with my problems and stress has made me fail to keep you happy...I'm TRUELY SORRY NOVE! I will try my best to keep to every promise.

Finally, i need to say again...THANK YOU for giving me everything possible. You have not only made an old man happy but more lifeful. You've made me come back to life and enjoy the simple pleasures of what life has to offer. With you it seems like i have all the riches in the world and i'm so grateful for that. There is still so much i want to say to you, but i don't know how to put them in to words. [SONG] Joey McIntyre - I Don't Know Why I Love You

After a few days of moving into my new place, i've finally settled down and got things a tad organized.

The new place isn't that bad BUT i need to do some serious scrubbing and shit in the toilet. I hate having a dirty toilet. Even one spec makes me feel icky and stiff. All i need to do now is buy a toilet brush and start scrubbing and scrubbing.

The move was fucking tiring. Thx to Nove for helping me and Thomas for helping me pack. If i was doing everything alone, i'd definitely die. The most tiring part of the whole move, was carrying my shoes and my box full of shatec textbooks, manual and magazines. If it wasn't for these 2 boxes, everything would have gone much more smoother and probably less tiring. I'm gonna make sure to buy new luggage with WHEELS if not a plastic container to house all these items. I can't imagine carrying them again to my new place.

Overall, the place is nice. However, i hate the fact that i need to be quiet at night and that i lost my private sanctuary. I'm so use to having a whole place to myself - doing whatever the fuck i wanted to. Now to even think of opening the door loudly makes me worried that i'll wake someone. The most saddening part is that i don't think i can smoke inside, so the toilet has become a very good friend of mine, if you get my drift.

Just don't be expecting a house warming party, invites or views of my room - it's just way too small to hold even 4 people inside. So from now on...let's just party outside or meet up somewhere alright? right!

I'm out..gonna head to bed. Still got work tmr...grrr...housekeeping is tiring..but fun at the same time =) peace y'all!

My new home will be within the area of Sengkang.

I can't wait to move it. My current landlord is giving me so much headaches and stress. her nagging is enough to kill me. She was never this bad before and i don't understand why the sudden change. it must be her daughters or something that keep putting pressure on her to put on me.

Damn it.

However, i'm contended with my new place and it's quite alright. I'm going to be a fellow sengkang-er from now on. It will be good too since a lot of my friends stay around the area. It won't take such a long time to meet up or anything. most importantly though, we can share a cab home hahaha.

I don't like the guy i'm going to be sharing the flat with but it's only temporary anyways. I got this nice little master bedroom in sengkang as well to rent but i gotta wait til august. That's the only catch. the aunty that stays there is so quite and friendly. i really get a nice vibe from her when i enter the flat. can't wait!

I like the area of Sengkang. The mall, Compass Point, seems to have everything i need and i'm especially happy that they have a starbucks there! on the down point there isn't any movie theater in case i just wanted to pop out for a movie or something, but to get to tampines i hear is quite quick so it shouldn't be that much of a problem. Just a few minutes walk from my place is another mall, Rivervale mall. I haven't actually gone in but i hope there's something good lol!

can't wait til next thursday, may 1st, to move in and settle down!

i'm so stressed.

I need to move and i can't FIND A FUCKING PLACE TO MOVE YET! i need to get out of here by the first week of may! i'm so stressed that i can't find a place to move in!

i hate the feeling of insecurity. i need to confirm a place to move so i can feel at ease. i'm so over stressed and worried that i'll be sleeping on the streets. On top of that, i'm looking all over the streets for boxes so i can pack my shit into asap.

anyone know of any master bedrooms available? preferably closer to town? sengkang, hougang, boon keng, amk, tpy, queenstown, red hill, bishan wherever that takes less than 30-40 min to town. lesser than that would be awesome too.

i'm looking to spend a maximum of S$700 a month with electricity and water. If ANYONE knows of a place available please let me know asap. it would be a great help!!

[SONG] Savage Garden - I Knew I Loved You

Just a short update on the meeting...

I am proud to announce that i have been guaranteed a position in Catering Sales at Raffles Hotel Singapore.

I'll be starting off as a wedding coordinator and the starting pay is quite attractive. Though it isn't much but it's good enough to start off.

I was so pleased with the meeting i had with the Director of HR and the GM. We not only discussed future opportunities but i got to hear the views and ideas from both parties. Which in turn got me thinking much more about myself and the organization. I do see myself staying with Raffles Hotel for at least the next 5-10 years because of the employee welfare that we receive. I am happy to say that it's been a very satisfying experience and opportunity!

After i finish my studies and all i may think about taking up the management trainee program again. Catering Sales can offer me the time and structure i need to further my studies while working. The management trainee program would be more difficult and i believe much more stressful. There is much installed for me in the future so i'll just take things slow from here!

I'm so happy and proud. Being able to reach a position i feel happy and comfortable in is not only gratifying but overwhelming at the same time. I feel i've come a long way since the days in Toronto. I know that things are changing and i hope the future changes will go on smoothly.

[SONG] Shayne Ward - Stand By Me

Getting so excited!

I have a meeting with the General Manager of Raffles Hotel and the Director of Human Resource on Wednesday.

I hope to seal a full time position after my attachment with them. I think the GM and Director want to see me to follow up on my plans and to see how the training at the hotel is going. I hope it's nothing bad lol!

I've been thinking about what to say, how to express my sincerity and how to show that i'm serious about a future career with Raffles Hotel.

If all goes well, i hope to seal a deal with them asap.

My plans are as follows:

either take up a full time position in..

1) Catering Sales as a Wedding coordinator
2) Take up the Management Trainee Program
3) Sign a Full-time position in Front Office

Either path seems to have good prospects, however, catering sales and the management trainee positions are the ones that catch my eye.

My case is special cuz i'm not singaporean and as a canadian citizen, i need to earn at least S$1 800 per month to stay and work in singapore. That's why i've been so stressed, cuz it's just so hard to find a job that starts with a pay of that caliber.

During my full-time position, i plan to study part time @ APMI taking up my bachelor of arts in psychology with double majors in psychology and marketing management. The course outline and modules seem very interesting.

the past 4 days have been wonderful. Got to relax, eat like hell, watch loads of movies and most importantly I got to spend it with nove. It was just great. I wonder when we would be able to spend such times again....

I haven't been so happy in a long time. It's been difficult to find someone to share each moment with but i'm lucky that i found someone! THX AMY, we both owe you big time =)

We went to watch Vantage Point today (too lazy to post the poster up)

it was a bit weird.

It kept rewinding the scenes from each character. It made me a bit dizzy and by the end i was able to follow what each character was going to say.

I just completed my future development proposal for my dad. It details my career path, future plans and furthering education details.

I'm quite contended with it and i hope he takes the time to read it as i have put quite a bit of effort into it. It totals 10 pages so ya..just imagine. I will be giving a copy to my HR manager tmr to show my sincerity to start a career with them, let's hope it works!

If i get what i want, i'm sure i'll be able to fulfill the plans in the proposal. I just need a chance and an opportunity!!!!

I had a great discussion with the Director of Catering Sales on thursday.

It seems there is a position available as a wedding coordinator. We discusses my future career path, interests and passion.

She was impressed and shocked when she heard how serious i was cuz i'm always so 'happy go-lucky' She also mentioned that i may be the right candidate to fill the position. I was quite happy with the outcome of our talk.

I'm having a meeting with HR on monday, so wish me luck. The Director said to refer her straight if there are any questions from HR, this made me very excited as she seems quite serious about me filling the position. I'll definitely bring up this issue with the manager and i hope that they will give me an opportunity to show my abilities.

The year 2008 is still in it's early beginning but i am happy to say that it has started off on a great foot!

With the transition from Banquet to Catering Sales things have started to brighten up. I kind of miss banquet though, cuz i get to have a free work out and be the IC (in-charge) of certain functions. However, Catering Sales is much more relaxing and i get to go on site inspections, sales calls, answer sales questions and much more other responsibilities - things that i look forward to do.

Banquet has taught me a lot of different setups and whatnots for catering sales, so when i get a call, i can not only visualize what the room would look like but i get to give suggestions and input on certain events. The kind of empowerment that the Director of Catering Sales gives me is far more then i expected and i'm loving every minute of it!

tiring 2 weeks

oh man..it's been a long 2 weeks.

Since last sunday, the 17th of feb, i've been out drinking every other day.

My cash flow has hit rock bottom and my alcohol intake is sucking the life out of me. I've been so tired with the lack of sleep and early shifts the next morning that i can't seem to stay awake.

I hope i get my cash soon time cuz i'm seriously gonna have no money to eat soon. On top of that, i'm in debt about 250 bucks..god dammit! And to think, i just got paid on tuesday lol! dammit, it's time to slow down and be a good boy...at least for the month of march haha!

Hence, i'm just ending this post off and saying goodnight to all =) peace!

Whoa! it's been a week. I really good week at that.

Starting last Sunday, I've been drinking almost every other night. After the 3 day orientation period and adding up all my Off In Lieus and Public Holidays, I only worked 1 whole day, which was Friday.

The orientation which was held on Monday to Wednesday, was interesting at the same time a tad boring. I guess it was because of the lack of sleep that occurred from all the drinking but at least i made the effort to show up and still sit in.

The week is finally over with a great 2 day break and surprised as i was, i'll be off tmr again - making a total of 3 days off =) w00t!!!

I headed to Toa Payoh today with Eunice, Mat and Janice.

We went to patronize a place called Botak Jones (thx elliott for the great recommendation!)

Anyways, i was quite surprised with the outlet. It's basically a stall at a food court serving up great authentic american cuisine with a tad of a price increase to those of normal food court stalls.

The portioning isn't as big as i assumed but it was filling. Filling enough to fill my stomach. I ended up getting a loaded burger and jalepenos poppers for all under 20 bucks. Trust me when i say it's better than any restaurant i've tried so far. For a food court i didn't expect much, but i received much more!!

I would definitely patronize the establishment again without a doubt =)

It is now pass 12, which means it is Feb 14 2008...

VALENTINES DAY!!

I fucking hate valentines, cuz i just don't understand why couples need a day to celebrate their love for each other - shouldn't be done and shown throughout the year? hm....

On top of it all, it leaves out all the single people out there. I guarantee that most of the single people will be venturing straight home after work to avoid the shame of not having anyone by their side. I surely will be.

Why is it that single people avoid being seen on this day? well, personally i believe it has to do with society. I think as myself as a confident person, but when it comes to valentines day, i lack the confidence to show my face. Weird? yes i know..but it's embed into me - to avoid the stares and laughter from happy couples i guess. Who knows...

The sight of couples smooching and hugging makes me sick. Yes, i admit, it makes me jealous and i'm not ashamed to admit it and be bitter about it. Wishing to have that moment that they share is what makes my nerves all rattled up - wishing how i could have someone to share that affection with.

Flowers and Restaurants will have a field day with the price hikes and scams. It's unbelievable what a rose stalk will cost, yet alone a meal. I guess it's all in the marketing and money making techniques that people learn when they find out how many people are willing to spend on this 'special' day. It's disgusting how they squeeze every last cent. Unbelievable!

Anyways, i hate valentines. There's no reason to have it. Love should be expressed everyday of your lives, especially if you really love the other party!

Even if i wasn't single, i would still be against valentines, but if the other party is into it, then there's no choice but go with the flow. right? I know it sounds a bit contradicting but it's a whole give and take situation. get it?

Finally...I get to blog again!!

been so busy entertaining my family members while they were here, i haven't had the time to go online. Most importantly though, i don't have to endure anymore snoring from my grandpa, grandma, aunt and DAD!!!!!

The whole week was of sleepless nights and getting up early for work. I'm beat and i finally have a day off since last monday. it's going to be a good 2 day off.

On a brighter note, since my dad came, my wardrobe has expanded almost 2 folds. I'm most proud of this raulph lauren jacket i bought at a steal. It is the perfect fit and i think if i wear a nice shirt inside, it would look superb haha.

anyhoo, Now that they're gone, i get to sleep, get back to my routines and haven't to worry about anyone breathing down my neck - most importantly though, i get to live life the way i choose to =)

On a different note, tmr is chinese new years and i dread it! Everything is pretty much closed tmr and today is left with a half day. It's gonna be hard to find food for tmr. I'm gonna be home watching tv, while everyone is out with family and shit.

I don't understand the whole chinese traditions still. Everything is so red and LOUD! like chinese weddings, moon cake festival and of course not forgetting the new year.

I'm totally cool with indian festivals and malay ones but i think when it comes to chinese festivals, i'm just bored. In canada i didn't get to experience much of indian and malay festivals, i guess that's why i'm still intrigued by them. As for chinese festivals, i experienced my fair share when i go back to malaysia to be with family and i totally can't stand it!!

Oh well, i guess coming from a chinese-western background plays a big part of how i deal with these festive days. I just don't care for them haha. In canada, Christmas is probably the only festive season that leaves a mark.

anyways....i'm gone...headed for steamboat tonight so gonna get some shut eye first...peace!!

So...KL was mad fun!

Got to meet up with some old friends, talk, party and of course...drink!

The first night i arrived, i checked in to the hotel, took a shower and headed over to Jennifer's House. Oh man, is her house ever sweet! We had a pre-wedding dinner and alcohol fest at her house. The size of her house is about the length of 11 cars =) just imagine that length!

After that, i headed to Sri Hartamas to meet up with my cousin, Bi and met up with some old friends. Partied HARD and drank enough to last the month. By the time i got home, it was about time to head to Jennifer's wedding.

The dinner, which was held at Palace of the Golden Horses, was so nice. The hotel was HUGE and the decor was exquisite. Wonderful place with a great view. If i didn't know at first, i would have thought the sultan or something lived there. I was sitting with friends i met way back around in 2005. It was nice to see them again and drink together at the cocktail reception and dinner. We talked and talked. It was memorable nonetheless.

After that, i headed out with Bi and some folks to party it out again =) oh man...the whole time we drank, we just laughed and reminisced about the past...just wonderful!

Sunday was a more relaxed event in the day, with a sweet and cheap Karaoke session at RedBox. For about 45 RM we got...4hrs of singing, 3 standard drinks and a sweet buffet spread. Just amazing, though the food wasn't that good, the sushi made up for everything lol.

After that, we headed to party again and it was a crazy night. That's all i will elaborate on that haha =)

...then came monday, when i had to leave. Bi came over to accompany for a bit and then i .......left! It was sad cuz i was just getting to have fun. If i stayed another week, it would have defiantly been a blast.

Not gonna write anymore, cuz i'm gonna head to bed....mad tired from work. If you wanna know more...call me hahahaha!

I'm back from KL if you didn't already know...It's was mad fun y'all!!

I've just been so busy with work and entertaining my family members that are in Singapore i haven't had the time to update. Sorry folks!

Because I took leave last week (with an advanced off), i'm working straight for 10days before receiving an off day. It's been tiring already with only 3 days of work that's why i've been neglecting updating when i got back.

The long awaited BBQ post.

It was a night of fun and talk with Xiumin, Alan, Thomas, Amy, Susu, Eunice and Myself.

We had a catered BBQ because Alan was lazy to do any preparations. There was a wide arrangement of food, for example, satay, prawns, chicken and vegetables.

When Alan attempted to be a chef, it didn't really work out. Haha Sorry Alan. So, we let the Canadian potato enter the scene for some great a la minute preparations =) (haha Sounds so exquisite lol.)

After the BBQ, we headed to Mt. Faber to check out the Christmas tree and scenarios. Too bad the christmas tree lights were already turned off by the time we parked and got up the hill. The scenarics were wonderful and the view was amazing. It was a first for most of us and for myself, i would defiantly take a date up there for a nice dinner at the Jewel Box.

Overall, it was a nice night with friends. If it wasn't for attachment and work schedules, it would have been much more grand if more of our classmates entered the scene. It's just so difficult to have everyone gathered together for a good dinner or outing. Oh well, that's life i guess. Career paths are ahead of us and we can only look forward to what's in stored for us.

This Taiwanese born model/actress looks so much prettier in real life. I was stunned and stoned for about 5 minutes. I never moved, talked or thought about anything, i just stood there gazing at her beauty. When she took a glass of champagne from me, i was sweating bullets and when she said 'thank you' i melted.

Her english was extremely well spoken and the way she portrays herself is of such class and status. Though she's so famous and pretty, she was quite quiet the whole night. She seemed to be very shy and innocent. I didn't sense a hint of arrogance or complexity with her. Amazing woman!

The guests of the night were of people of wealth. Some arrogant, some acting rich and some that just didn't fit the picture. I was laughing inside when some of them were talking. I just don't understand why they need to act in such a crowd. fake accents, actions and emotions were well shown within some of the guests that attended the opening. Oh well, i guess that's the effect of people with a distinguish status in life have on others.

It doesn't matter anyways, the main point is that i got to see a celebrity and a very hot one at that!

Alright folks....

Been busy at work with the weird timings i haven't been able to sit in front of the computer and blog.

Banquet so far isn't as bad as i thought, however, i'm quite vexed that i have to stay for 8 weeks before going into catering sales. I mean, fuck, i don't wanna be in banquet. I'd rather bloom potential elsewhere. On a brighter note, my time isn't being wasted and i am learning quite a bit. I'm being trained as a captain right now and in no time, i'll be coordinating my own functions. This doesn't defeat the point though. I want to leave cuz well honestly speaking, i'm just too lazy.

I wish i could just do 4 weeks of banquet and concentrate the rest of the 8 weeks in catering sales. That would just be magnificent! Human Resource has been kind enough to sympathize and shown concern for me learning, that's why they want me to stay for at least 6-8 weeks. All in all, i am a trainee and the main point is to - LEARN!

That's the update so far from work.

Oh, do come back sometime this week around wednesday or thursday. If i'm not too tired i'll be uploading the pix from the BBQ we had prior to then new year. Thx amy fro loading them and e-mailing them to me.

Well well...

i hope everyone had a fucking great time during the dreadful holiday season. Yes, that's right, a fucking greatass time! =)

Well, the god damn new year has started and everything seems to be the same as previous years. sucky!

I'm back at Raffles Hotel Singapore and today marked my second day back. Banquet, so far, has been quite fun and easy. The manager says i'm lucky because this is the slow season for Raffles Hotel to hold any banquet functions. Example, the next 2 days are free of functions meaning there's gonna be back-of-the-house cleaning done. Luckily i'm off tmr =)

It's been great so far. Got to see some old faces and reunite with some old friends. I'm getting to know some new ones at banquet, but personally, the part timers and some of the staff are not worth getting to know. I mean i'm gonna be there for only 1 month (still pending) so there's no point on getting to know the foreign students working there or the cocky ass full timers because i may never see them again lol. On top of that, we have a huge age gap - most of them being around 16/17 years of age. The manger i've been working with is great. Nice guys.

I can't wait til this whole banquet part is over. I just wanna be able to do work in a much more comfortable environment, ya know? on the up side, i get to sweat off some weight and gain some muscles from all the furniture moving haha!

So...x-mas is officially over...woopie fucking doo...

I pretty much slept through the whole day today.

Got plastered alone last night. Reason being: depressed!

I ended up drinking 6 large bottles of beer, almost half a bottle of Abolut Kurant Vodka and apparently i finished a whole bottle of shiraz.

Yup..that made me puke 2 times, end up with blurry vision and most importantly, forget!

I completely forgot what happened after the wine. I thought there was still left overs this morning, but apparently it was all gone. I was quite surprised that i finished all that alcohol alone.

Oh well, it was a good night to get crunked and pass x-mas.

Christmas is officially fucking over...now it's time to get passed the whole fucking new year thing. I don't think i can top new years with this years personal x-mas party! Gotta plan something extra special for venture into 2008.

Okay, it's that time of year again that SUCKS!

You can all call me Grinch, if you please!

The Christmas season is always a downer for me and I'll always post something negative about it. I just can't stand the holiday season. Most may know, or not know, that the holiday season brought a lot of hate and anger into me when i was a child, so i guess it kind of stuck with me since then. From a professionals point of view, I'm pretty psychotic about the whole x-mas/new year thing.

Every year, when i was a child, my holiday would have gotten ruined by my parents. They end up fighting and screaming at each other, which left a really negative impact on my life. After the age of about 14, when i stopped celebrating with my family and started hanging out late with friends, x-mas became times of destruction and vandalism. We use to go around and put things on fire, break cars blah blah blah...anything that was unethical and illegal. However, with all the fun and excitement that we had, i was still missing something. I'm sure my friends were too. I think by being unwanted by family, we ended up finding each other and taking out our anger on everyone else. We all needed family or at least someone to be with that was special. No doubt our times together were special, but it's a different feeling...ya feel me?

This year, like many previous years, is gonna be a lone and saddening event. I've planned it all out. I'll be plastering myself at home tmr night, reminiscing about the past, thinking about my present and looking forward to my future. It's gonna be an oh so boring and unexciting night.

Christmas in one word, SUCKS and New Years is just another entry to another rotten year. I can't stand the fact that so many are happy during this time of year. I'm jealous. I'm Envious - it's true and i'm not afraid to admit it. All that gift giving, cheerful faces, loved couples and families, makes me sick that i can't have that. I've never been able to spend a great Christmas in front of a fireplace, have a turkey dinner and get crunked with champagne.

If Santa could ever grant me one wish, it would be able to spend one holiday with someone special. That's all i ask for. Just that one person that could bring joy and happiness into my life. Make this Grinch smile and glow. Most importantly, to make everyone else around me feel envious.

I know this post makes me sound selfish, but isn't everyone entitled wish and want something?

Many people may not understand where I'm coming from, but i know a bunch that do. They all reside back home in Toronto and it's making me miss them more and more! This year is much more heart thorn than any previous year. Why? reason being is that after this year, i may never be able to return home for a visit for at least 5 years. From what i have visioned for myself, i don't see myself returning back due to career opportunities and further education.

Anyways, i don't want to elaborate anymore on the situation and start ruining everyones x-mas and new year spirit and plans.

So...I'll leave with this..

There was something QUITE funny from this release. They said that they increased the city area surcharge from S$1.00 to S$3.00 to encourage drivers to pick up people from the City Area. That's complete BS because lots of people are still stuck without cabs.

AND

The 35% increase for the peak hour surcharge is outrages. It's like having to pay night charges in the day. Pathetic excuse to earn more money if you ask me.

So during the hours of 5pm to 8pm, you have to pay the city surcharge of S$3.00 PLUS an additional 35% increase of the total meter.

After 8pm, which shouldn't be considered peak hour anymore, is still affected by the additional fares. Does that make sense to anyone? I'm surely lost for words. It's like after 5pm til the next morning at 6am, cabs are just a glamorous item to travel with. What if your rushing and short on cash? what if you happened to leave your atm card at home and only have limited cash on you? Just What IF?

Alright, i'm vexed!

Cab fares in Singapore have sky rocketed!

I didn't think they were going to increase prices by two-folds. I assumed that it would be a few cents, but i was so wrong, and i found out the hard way tonight.

Here's what the cab driver told me:

1) Start fare is S$2.80
2) every 310km is a S$0.20 cent jump..it used to be S$0.10 cents for every 210km (see the difference?)
3) Boarding from the Central Business District (CBD area) is an additional S$3.00 (from 5pm to 12pm)
4) Peak hour charge is now 35% of total cab fare...meaning S$10.00 will have an additional S$3.50 on top AND it starts when the time passes 5:00pm. So this means, that it's like getting charged early midnight charges in the day.
5) On-Call charges are around S$3.50 to S$4.00

so..here's some math for you all.

On Call Charge, CBD boarding, Peak Hour and Meter Start time...totals about S$12.00 before even releasing the foot off the break. (4+2.80+3.00+35% = ALOT OF FUCKING MONEY)

This currently applies to new comfort cabs and i think city cabs as well. All cabs will eventually change to this system, it just depends on time. This change is due to maintenance fees of the new cabs (kia sonata) and the price hikes on fuel/gas/petrol/oil!

So, i was in the cab with amanda, cussing and swearing in my heart with the new additional charges. I usually have to pay about S$12-S$14 bucks to reach home from town...today it racked up to S$18.20. That's not bad considering i didn't have the peak hour surcharge and the on-call charge on top.

This system is a HUGE change. I will defiantly think more than twice to take a cab from now on. The safest bet is to take a cab before 5 and not within the CBD area. It's horrific i tell you! Your eyes will literally bulge out when you see your total fare on the meter!

Chansey told me it was suppose to be about a 49% increase to what we normally pay. I didn't believe her cuz i wasn't effected when i took a cab in the day. I total see where she was going with it when i saw the meter jump like a little bitch today. My heart was falling out with my wallet that didn't have much cash left inside.

they should have a new slogan or something...eg. "take a cab if your born in royalty" or "if your families loaded, hop on"... seriously you need to be dirt loaded before even considering looking at a cab now. The amount i will pay to reach home with all those charges would have been enough to get me home from Changi Airport back in the day.

Oh and did i mention that it's still a bitch to get a cab? it's like people around me are getting richer, un-aware of the new prices or just plain stupid to be feeding these huge organizations with more money.

I'm vexed, agitated and disturbed with this whole new strategy they have implemented. Whatever happen to 20 cent increases or even 50 cent increases? this is a totally new system and it's about 50% more expensive then ever.

This years show seemed so, boring and unattractive compared to previous years. It seemed that there was no budget to make it grand and their wasn't enough planning to make it spectacular. I was quite disappointed from the start.

I would have imagined, like many previous years, that there would be more performances and more supporters. It was so bland that i almost fell asleep, just waiting for the results. The girls this year, judging by looks, weren't as attractive. I personally loved, Korea, China, USA, Sweden, France, Venezuela, Thailand and Indonesia.

By being adventurous to venture into Sanya China to hold the event, was spectacular. I never knew such a place existed. It looked wonderful. Instead of going to some mainstream country/city, I'm glad that the association had the guts to venture into a area of exoticness and culture. It was quite a surprise to here that it was in China, seriously.

Now on to the main part, the ladies.

- Congratulations to Zi Lin Zhang of PRC for being the winner of Miss World 2007

Though her English isn't the greatest, the effort put in was great. I think she deserved the win, no doubt. However, i think there was a bit of a biasness when deciding due to the Beijing Olympics coming up in 2008. I'm quite happy she won, its marks a new era for china and chinese people around. Congrats again!

- INDONESIA - Kamidia RADISTI

Indonesia was one of the TOP beauties of the night (My opinion). I think if she brushed up on her talks, she could have done a lot better. She was really nervous and the answers given were not really enticing. However, the competition isn't all about looks right? lol.

- KOREA - Eun-Ju CHO

Korea, to me, was the cutest of them all. Her body out surpasses many of the contestants as well. I wish she would have made it into the top 3 though. It would be nice to see more of her around. I'm sure the Korea media is gonna eat her up, so no frets, if your into Koreans and all, your sure to see her in some Korean magazines or something, in the near future.

- THAILAND - Kanokkorn JAICHUEN

What a Beaut. Thailand's representative this year was beautiful. I thought initially she was from Japan or something. Just wonderful.

- VENEZUELA - Claudia Paola SUREZ FERNANDEZ

Just look at that body..nuff said right? lol!

- FRANCE - Rachel LEGRAIN-TRAPANI

The French seem to know how to really present themselves. I thought she presented herself the best throughout the night. She was exquisite.

Disappointments

- SPAIN - Natalia ZABALA ARROYO

If her spoken segments did better, i may have actually noticed her postitively. I thought she could have done a lot better if she worked harder.

- SINGAPORE - Roshni Kaur SOIN

Singapore was way too shy and showed lack of confidence. I thought that she could have done a lot better. She was a big disappointment to me.

- CANADA - Sara GHULAM

I guess because i'm Canadian i expected a lot more from Canada. Over the years, Canada was sending representatives with brains and beauty. This year was a complete flop. Its just sad. I'm quite speechless.

Shayne Ward - A Better Man

Exams are coming up next week so updating will be suspended for a good 9 days or so.

I'm totally utterly screwed for Financial Management and probably Hospitality Law. I'm quite sure the rest of the subjects will be passes - barely!

On another note..

Ytd our class went to the Siloso Beach Resort. The layout of the resort was, in one word, messy! The lobby was smaller than my house and the area wasn't fully covered, making it hard to get around with the rain.

The rooms were small, but nicely decorated. I LOVED the suite which comes with a private jacuzzi and a connecting door to the top platform - Wonderful! Also, the pool uses spring water in the pool, which looks wonderful (photo below)

All in all, i wouldn't recommended anyone to stay therep personally, but if your looking for a weekend get-a-way in singapore then what the heck? right? haha!

Financial Crisis!

My dad is officially the worst and most irresponsible father in the world! Enough said!

It's been a sweet 2 months now, since he promised to send me money for my school fees. Until this date, i have yet to receive anything in the thousands.

Because of the financial delays and the lack of responsibilities to support his one and only son, i am now, financially big in debts.

The headaches and stress this man is putting me through is endless. There's always something new with this guy that i just can't seem to understand. As a father, he was never there for me nor was he there financially. However, when he agreed to send me overseas to study, you would imagine that he grew up and started to care for his son. Well NNNNNOOOOO, that's the complete opposite of what's happening.

He can still go shop like a freak, plan trips to australia and southeast asia and have the guts to ask me which phone i want and if i wanted to join them on their trip. How thoughtful right? wrong.. i would have thought he would have started saving his earnings and shit for me to continue my studies and not to worry about anything financially.

PUHLEASE!

this is not the shit i need. I just need MONEY...the greens, the ching ching, the denaro, the benjamins blah blah blah..you get my point.

As a care giver in the future, i would never put my children in a position i couldn't handle. I wouldn't want them to worry about anything that shouldn't. I know how it feels, and it's simple to write it down, but deep down, there's just way more to it.

I could tell you ALL the shit my dad put me through as a child, but there just wouldn't be enough time to, in fact, there wouldn't be enough space on this blog either. My mom is the only person i can depend on and it's no wonder i use to be so much closer to her in the past.

Right now, i don't need any of them. I just need their money. I know it's cruel to say, but being raised within a western society and having been developed through their cultures, it's just what we do. It's our right of passage in lame terms.

My dad is putting me in a position that i don't know how to account for. I REALLY REALLY thought he changed when he started trying to get closer to me. I guess i was utterly wrong and that he has actually worsened in my eyes. He is irresponsible, hard headed, stubborn and a mess..all bundled nicely to a big ball of shit!!!!!

I've always wanted to be someone else when i was growing up, now i just wish i had another father!

I REALLY REALLY REALLY wanted to post about cultural differences. However, with the lack of time to think through the material and actually getting down to writing, i'm just short of time.

Exams are in 2 weeks and my project work is coming to a due date soon time. I can't wait til all is over and i can actually put some thought and creativity into my blog posts.

This week has been hell, besides the fact of being sick, the stress level is slowly rising while the days are coming slowly to an end. I can't really focus. I watch movies and heroes (tv series) to pass time and relax before doing anything that will crack my brain. I need all the time to self relax and enjoy before i totally go insane.

I've just recently started watching the Heroes TV drama series.

one word describes the whole thing: AMAZING!

I'm not the biggest fan of American drama series' but this one really blew my mind. I'm now not only addicted to the WHOLE series, I've started implementing what Hiro nakamura 's dialog - that's how obsessed i am.

This TV series is sheer intelligence. The way the they put the characters and plot together was amazing. I do have some problems with the directing, but i believe it has to do with the time constraints between each episode. If you like something with a mystery and are into the whole super power or comic thing, then i STRONGLY advise you to watch this series.

My favorite character is no doubt, Hiro Nakamura played by Masi Oka. Besides having the cutesiest and most innocent character, Masi, was able to portray his character to be it's full potential. He has the ability to switch his character from someone honest to someone that is fearless. In my view, Masi's character made the whole series funny.

Now into season 2, a new character has emerged. Elle Bishop played by Kristen Bell. I love the way she can play 'evil.' After watching Kristen in Gossip Girl and Veronica Mars, it is clearly noticeable that she has reached a new level with her acting. It is unknowing that with her great looks and sweet face, that she could look and act so evil. I was quite impressed.

I'm not the biggest pop fan, however, i do appreciate talent. Justin Lo is probably one of the few new artists' in the HK music scene that can pull a vocal range and give a unique flavor in his music.

After reading the biography on Wiki, i came to asking myself, what would i do to pursue my dreams?

He left Yahoo! to follow his dream as a singer. I mean, what courage! Knowing that the industry itself is a hard battle to enter, he still gave everything up in the States to return to HK to find his love - music! I'm glad he left, and made such a name for himself in the scene.

I believe strongly that Justin will soon become the next Hacken Lee, Andy Lau or any other great music artist that has survived so long in HK. It's difficult. The music industry is a killer industry to remain in. However, i believe he can do it!

So congrats on the new album Justin. It's great!

Look out for other great new artists' in the HK music scene...Janice Vidal, Jill Vidal, Stephy Tang, Theresa Fu and Charles Ying.

Though i believe Janice Vidal is the only female that compares to Justin at the moment, the rest are worth checking out if your into the whole canto pop thing.

...i wonder if Janice and Justin will ever come out with duet together...that would be great!

I've been extremely busy these days, so i won't be able to update as frequent as possible.

I'm not sure if many have you noticed, but I've been changing my writing patterns on my blog. Instead of giving dull boring posts about what's going on in my life, i try to incorporate events from around (example from: newspapers, television or what whatever i come across) i find important. Also, i try to add in my views, perspectives, thoughts and well whatever i find interesting.

The writing style has changed to suite the general public. I didn't wanna just list out an issue or daily rant. I wanna be able to hit an issue with people, give my insights on the issue and give the reader a different perspective on things. I hope its working by the way.

I will still talk about what's going on in my life, movie reviews and such but it will be written in a way that i hope everyone will enjoy reading. Rather than just saying, i went to a movie with blah blah blah and ended up doing this and that during the weekend. It's too boring, dull and unreadable.

A story in Singapore has stirred up a frenzy which involve 3 British tourists and a 67 yr old trishaw driver.

The news hit around the 1st of November when the 1 of the British tourist posted the video of 'the slowest taxi in SE Asia' on youtube.

Since then, Mr. Davis (the one who posted the video) has replied with an apology. However, the apology seems to have stirred up more of a frenzy with netizens. Mr. Davis was quoted "Looking back, I think we were insensitive. But bullies, no." There was no apology made directly to Mr. Lee, the 67 year old trishaw driver, which is why netizens are furious.

These blogs, websites and forums are just a few of what you can find off google. People of Singapore and the world want a answer for their actions and they demand that they apologize with sincerity.

From my point of view, these tourists are a sad case. Having to ride 3 full grown men on a trishaw and not get paid is just unethical. He's 67 yrs of age and the 3 men just took advantage. The uncle asked for S$10.00 for their ride. What's 10 bucks converted back to pounds? It's really nothing for these guys. But did they think what 10 dollars is for this trishaw uncle? Probably not!

let's do the math: 10 bucks in singapore can get him at least 3 meals or 10 packs of coffee.

These tourists have no respect for the elderly. They exhibited this by posting a video of how shameful they can be. Posting this video for the world shows that they have no sense of compassion. The way they treated him, laughing and swearing, showed the world that there are still people out there that have no respect for others. It's saddening to hear that their are people walking the streets with a mentality that they are above all.

Did Mr Davis and company think that no one would view their video on youtube?
Did they think that it was a laughing joke?
Could this have been an act of racial discrimination?
Was it really that funny?

To think that someone would take a 67 yr old guy as a joke when he is just trying to earn an honest living is just pathetic. Though many trishaw owners are rude, cheaters and inconsiderate, they don't deserve to be made fun of publicly. Have you wondered why they react they do when no one takes their trishaw? It's probably because of the cheap and fast alternatives they can get with taxis and public transportation. We can't blame them. They are around because the trishaw acts as a tourist attraction for Singapore. Removing them will only take away a piece of Singapore's history.

The way citizens and netizens have come together to share their thoughts and inputs on the situation have really made me think, 'wow, their are still people willing to gather up and fight for what's right!' It's amazing that a story that stirred up Singaporeans have reached the masses almost instantly. This is the power of the internet and free flow information. Many believe that if this wasn't a fight amongst different races that it wouldn't have stirred up such a riot. I'm sure racial matters have nothing to do with the case.

A note to Mr. Davis and friends...

i hope you've learned your lesson. You not only stirred up a frenzy in the virtual world, but you've also started a riot amongst the masses. By displaying your actions on the video then posting it to the world, has made an embarrassment to the human race. It portrays that, in our world and society, there is still such immaturity and dis-respectfulness. No matter if the acts portrayed were out of a joke, racial hate or irrational decisions, it doesn't give you the right to have posted or film such a video. It's just outright shameful! By not paying for services rendered is just unethical. Would you go to a restaurant and not pay for the food served? probably not, since you'd be labeled as criminals, such as this case here. If the tables were turned, i'm sure you'd and your friends would be furious. I really do hope that a more sincere and direct apology is made soon!

A new life is born!

God.

He has brought new life into this world.

Congratulations to Rai and Anjula for having a healthy great looking daughter, Anishka Rania Rai.

After an excruciating 8hrs of labor, Anishka was brought into this world.

As it is deepavali, we were invited to Rai's house for food, chit chat and the main attraction, to see the new baby girl! Happy Deepavali to all!

She's probably the only Indian girl with a chinese godfather and mother. I being the father of course and Liang being the mother haha.

Her delicate head and soft skin was a great feeling to touch. I love the feeling of carrying a baby in my arms, even though i'm scared, the feeling is just great! i've always wanted to have children and since i don't have any yet, i'll just carry other peoples babies =)

Anishka possesses many of Rai's features. The forehead, the lengthy arms and legs, the nose and most importantly, the body hair. She's so cute and she's so adorable. You can't imagine how i felt when i saw her. It brought back memories and feelings of seeing my friends babies, back home in Toronto. It was a feeling i can't describe, a feeling that was lost for awhile. I'm glad to have been able to share the moment with Rai. Besides being nervous on the way, i was picturing so many images of my godson in Toronto and my friends babies back home. For a second there, i thought i deleted them from my memory. Thank god it's still there!

After being brought into this world after 10 days, she seems to be doing just fine. It's amazing how innocent and cute babies looks. They are amazed by the finest things in life and it's makes me wonder how we, as adults, forget the simple stuff around us. Example, gazing into the sky and dreaming or just being amazed by the amount of colors around us. Have you thought about where these things came from? probably not, but i'm sure a baby child is wondering, even though it may seem that they aren't.

Children are a blessing and people should cherish them, especially men. Many guys have a mindset of having the wife stay home and the men go out to work. Why can't it be the other way around? Why can't guys take care of their children and cherish the time they have? it's a rare find, which comes to my point, many men don't cherish what they have. Why you say? well exhaustion from work, stress, lack of interest in their kids and the so called 'duties' that wives perform, are just a few examples. Though you may see a loving father with their kids, but how much love are they really putting in? is it just a mere image on a time to time basis or is it as frequent as it's suppose to be? who really knows? not i!

going out of point a bit here but...

It's a proven fact that many men are turned off from their wives after they see their first child's birth. but why? is it disgusting to them? do they see something that the rest don't? could it be they see a child's head when the wife is crowning?

The answer is simple, many men don't understand the process of birth, they don't appreciate it and they feel that their wives are no longer appealing.

let me tell you this.

It takes a real 'man' to understand what birth is and the pain that your wives have to go through. It takes a real 'man' to cherish what they have and to show eternal love to their spouse.

As a man, i can understand the perspectives men have, it's grown in us. Blame it on testosterone if you may. However, i've taken the time to understand women, read up on pregnancies and learn about women in general. Though i may seem like some pervert that talks a lot of shit, i am actually the total opposite, well at least i think i am! I can understand what women go through, it's just too bad i won't be able to experience the process myself. I have always wanted to feel how it would be like to give birth. It's that process of giving birth that, if men understood, divorce rates and lust would probably be reduced drastically if not become obsolete.

Well, that's enough for now, before i press on someone's toes! These are my thoughts and views so don't take it to heart. We all have our own perspectives on life. This is just a mere souls thoughts! if you wanna discuss this or other issues..let me know =) i'm always available to talk!

Inspirations

I just finished watching...

Just like all inspirational films that are released, this movie made it's point very clearly.

Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson and Xzibit, really portrayed their roles wonderfully.

After watching this movie, it made me want to accomplish something big in life. Showing people around me that i'm not the useless one. My dad use to call me a failure when i was a child, which kind of still follows me. However, i know that deep down, i don't need him and that his words have made me a stronger person. Currently, he is changing his ways as well. Growing up with him was difficult but now i'm happy to say that the changes have helped change things alittle - positively. Though i still have great hate for him, i'm not hard headed enough to not notice these changes.

If there were more of these inspirational films during my time, i think i would have gone a different route. Probably a more prosperous one. I'm not complaining about my life now, i'm satisfied. I'm just stating that i may be somewhere else, doing something different - who knows. Films like this reach to a community that many may not understand. Fortunately i do! Growing up in communities, though not as bad as the ones movies portray, i got my fair share of insightful views. I'm glad and very thankful i came from a background that made me who i am. If it wasn't for the conditions i was raised, who knows who i would have become. I'd probably be like some nerdy, mommy's boy, crying everyday. Who knows!

Though i didn't need a film to catch my attention about my life, i'm glad they exist. In the societies we live in now, it's getting harder and harder to realize what's going on. Many try to cover-up a vision because they can't seem to get a hold of their own. They brainwash people to help them gain an upper hand. An example of this would be, having young teens get conned into selling drugs and eventually joining in on gang activities. I'd know because similar situations like this have happened to me and i followed.

What can we do?

we may think nothing, but to some, 1 person is enough to make a difference in someone's life. This is what these movies are showing us. Taking reality and sharing it with people around the world. Showing us, that somewhere, somehow, someone is willing to help others and show them a path that they deserve.

It's good to know that in a changing and gradually increasing uncaring society there is still someone willing to help people in need. Everyone is concerned with themselves! this is probably why i love to help people with personal issues - become their ears and to share my experiences with them. Though it may not seem like i'm the type to be serious, when in need of it, i can be a very serious and over mature individual.

It's movies like, gridiron gang, that changes perspectives about the world. It just depends if you are willing to learn from it, apply it and use it!

If you have yet to watch Gridiron Gang, i strongly suggest you go out and rent it now!

Facebook, the new way we connect and interact with people, from all around the world. Friendster, it's time to say goodbye.

I've been a member of facebook for about 6 months now. I'm still very into the whole site. What makes it so great? really, it just gives me something to do online. Being able to add over thousands of applications and unlimited photo albums, really makes the site interactive. The applications are a great way to pass-time or annoy people with.

The amazing thing that i love about facebook is that, i get to stay connected with friends i haven't seen in over 5 yrs, find long lost childhood friends and maintain those newly made friendships. Furthermore, being able to find and meet new people online has never become easier. With the neat 'poke' feature, you can grab someone's attention and if they wish to 'poke' you back, you know that there's a chance for the both of you to be online friends.

My favorite applications are the iLIKE app and the Flixster app. Being able to display my favorite music artists to displaying my favorite movies, i'm able to share my interests with the rest of the community. These 2 apps also implement quizzes and surveys to make the application more interesting and more interactive.

The groups option in facebook is also a very neat and fun way to connect with people. Grouping with people that share the same interests as you has never become easier. There are thousands of groups that you can join and millions of people around the world to interact with. A great way to share thoughts and meet new people i would say.

Facebook is definitely the new way to stay connected. Friendster has shown an improvement to their site, but it still hasn't reached the level of facebook. By implementing chinese readily text, higher photo upload limits, groups and fan options its showing the world that they are still around and won't be easily defeated!

However, the great thing about friendster is that you can view more profiles without having a private setting, whereas, facebook limits a lot of profiles; making it harder to find friends or meet people. Friendster is still around for the asian community but it's reputation is slowly dying. I hope friendster finds a way to keep running. It will be sad to see everyone leave.

Don't forget MySpace.com. This site is still overpopulated by americans but it's still a great site to talk about. The great thing that MySpace.com has over facebook and friendster is the file sharing options. Being able to post MP3s and such online for everyone to share is a great option that may get someone in trouble, someday, with all the illegal download issues revolving around the world.

Facebook has revolutionized the way we stay connected. it's your choice to follow which online community site you wanna stick with. In my perspective, stick with what your comfortable with for now, but be ready to switch when the rest of the world does.

So, i was thinking about this product while i was watching television and looking at my table. I thought to myself, is this product gonna be the next generation? will it really help us make things easier and is it stable enough to handle the things it's suppose to?

BUT most importantly...how secure is it?

Microsoft is known to produce products that are, well, 'full of loop holes' so to say. I trust that the product, in time, will defiantly be a great advantage to our lives but with all the backdoors and in-security in the internet world, many may be reluctant to use it. I know i would defiantly be reluctant to use it , in it's initial stages.

It's already so easy to steal passwords, credit card info and whatever personal details on your pc from the internet. What makes the surface so secure? I hope Microsoft has a way to go around this and make surface much more secure. If not, i believe many of the techies out there would feel more secure with the traditional methods.

The Microsoft surface is no doubt the next generation to the advancement of technology and the way we live, but it's too soon. With people always finding ways to crack products from multi-national corporations and such, it will defiantly be a hot targeted product. Who's to know if our credit card numbers are secure? Even at home, making online purchases, is a high risk, but people still do it. Why? Convenience! this is why surface will not flop on the market.

It is cool that we can makes payments by placing our cards on a table, read memory cards, view photos and files and such, without having to actually use a PC/laptop. However, it still goes back to my initial question...How safe is it? It's even more unsafe with surface when we don't need a signature for verification. Plus, anyone with the brains and resources to start making fake cards for purchases can no doubt do a lot of damage. At least with online purchases, people still have to enter a CVX number to verify and proof of identity for collection. Though it may seem like minimal security, it's better than nothing, rather than just placing our card on a table, verify and go!

We all know hackers and virus' will be around, but how can we minimize the activity and keep our personal details and files secure? Whoever finds away to make the internet secure and free of harm, will not doubt, turn the world around. Until then, happy surfing!

Finally got to catch Mr. Woodcock and Resident Evil: Extinction ytd!!

Woodcock = not bad...quite funny at parts.

Extinction = GREAT action throughout the film. Though the beginning was a tad draggy, the action and fighting really made up for it! i just had to ask myself..how many miras were in the show? and how come a girl in a dessert, fighting and sweating, can still look so good? weird if ya ask me...

anyhoo..

things seem to be going well...school sucks as usual and the semester seems to be zooming by. Tests and project stuff are just slamming and it's coming out of no where. Soon there will be no time for anything anymore.

I can't wait til december though. I hope i can go somewhere for vacation. Malaysia? Beijing? Taiwan? hm..i really really wanna head out to taiwan though. At least i can say i traveled to most places in asia. Beijing would be good too..cheaper on one part and i get to see liang and her friends. hm...decisions decisions..

has just left singapore to head home to china, where she will embark on her journey to a career and furthering her studies.

It's just hard to say goodbye. The last time she left was so much easier thinking that she was gonna come back for good. However, now that i know she won't be back for along time, i just can't bear with the thought. I was so shocked when i saw her leave...i really wished it was a reality show and she'd re-appear once again! the laughter we had leaving the airport made me forget for awhile, but being alone at home..it really made me think!

Things are gonna go back to how they were and life is gonna get dull once again. No one to really talk to or just call up for the sake of talking. Lonely nights alone at home starring in front of the television with a packet of food is how i will spend my weekends. The feeling of calling liang to come out for coffee or just to come over is gone!

There is so much i wanted to tell liang before she left. Things that i couldn't say in front of others , but i didn't get the chance to do so. I wanted to tell her how much she meant to me, how much i will miss her, tell her how i would feel without her here next to me...but most importantly how much i love her and the impact she made on my life!!

Liang if you read this i just want you to know that you will never be forgotten!! i love you so much and i wish that the plans you had previously would have sticked! however, i know why you made the decisions you did and i can only wish you all the best! I can't be greedy and ask you to change everything to stay, that's just too selfish and that's not who i am. I really hope that you do come visit and i will try my best to come and see you as well. Just know that this chubby boy is still here and i will always be a phone call away...anytime of the day!! It was so hard to hold in my tears at the airport, but i succeeded! i didn't want to put more pressure on you and i didn't want you to see me breakdown. There is just so many things i wanna tell you, but i won't have the chance! i regret not talking to you earlier but i guess it's better this way, so it won't be as hard as it already is. Writing this post has brought me a lot of pain and tears already and i just wish that you are able to read this when you get back so you know how i really feel. I know sometimes i don't really show my feelings but i hope you know the reasons behind it! I LOVE YOU LIANG LIANG! come back and visit! May everything work out the way you want it and i wish you all the best for your future career and future happiness.

[Song] D-Ground - Feelin You

So Liang returned on sunday morning @ around 5:45am.

After we picked her up and went back to my place, the days are never empty with things to do.

First off, Sunday night. We, as in I and Liang, headed to west ave 8 for dinner with, Thomas, Elliott, Paulina and Alan. After which, Elliott, Thomas and Alan stayed over the night. Too bad it ended early with Liang and Alan heading to bed early!!!

Day 2, Monday. After school, I went to Little India with Thomas and Aisah to have dinner @ Banana Leaf, for a school project. There we met up with Rai and his wife. We interviewed Anjula (rai's wife) about the cultures of India.

Might i add, Banana Leaf is a great place to try out some authentic North and South Indian Cuisine. I have some pix of the food, but i'm too lazy as of now to upload them. Maybe i'll do so in the next post =)

After dinner, we headed to town to meet up with Elliott and Liang. We went to NYDC for desserts and then made our way to Boat Quay to check out Vincent's new joint. After which, Elliott, Liang and I headed to Cineleisure for a karaoke session @ K-Box. That lasted until about 4:30am or so. Got to bed @ about 6:30am and i still had to head to school. Argh!!

As for today, it was a great and fun day. Xiumin, Amy, Susanna, Liang, Eunice, Chansey, Nicholas, Alan, Elliott, Paulina, Wan Ling, Thomas and I went to steamboat (yet again lol) It was great! just to be with the old gang again was fun.

THX to Nicholas' dad for preparing that special sweet and sour chili crab (?) It was great! down that shit with a beer and the taste was like WHOA! amazing! the crab was so juicy and tender and the sauce was just superb.

After, we headed to our usual dessert place after steamboat, Ah Chew Desserts! oh man, the mango sago, though different then the HK ones, is always a pleasure having after such a hearty meal. Just a great way to finish the meal.

On top of that, we headed to the Bugis Arcade to play some games. It was fun considering that i haven't played such new and advanced games in such a long time!

and now...i'm here telling you the stories of our last 3 days.

There are more scheduled days ahead..like clubbing, more dinners and meeting up with some old classmates.

since monday, i've been yearning to talk to someone. I just needed someone to talk to..to get my mind off things, ya know?

ever since i've came to singapore, i never really 'talk' to anyone. Liang is probably the only person i'm comfortable talking about issues and problems with, but i'm still holding back. I just can't find anyone to hold a decent conversation with. Someone that can relate to me and understand what i'm saying. I miss the days when maggie, stella, wanda, ken, karman and vivian were just a phone call or a drive away.

Is it because many of my friends now didn't come from the same background/situation/conditions as i did? Growing up in an environment much different then theirs?

In a way, i think this is one of the reasons. I know their are some people willing to listen, but can they really help me? Can they relate my issues and problems to their lives? Most likely not. I don't want to swarm them with problems they can't help me solve. Many people come to me for problem solving and i can help because i can relate. I've seen much things from the streets of toronto and experienced, not through just myself but my friends as well, many valuable and life learnt teachings. And i love sharing these stories, theories and teachings with people. It's a great way to communicate and learn from each other!

I'm not trying to get all cocky and shit but it's the truth.

All i want is someone that i'm able to call anytime of the day, cuss, bitch and rant to. If that's not possible, then just someone to talk and joke with - to pass time. I mean there are some that i can talk to and laugh with over the phone, but how many are willing to talk for an hour or 2 or 3 or 4? how many can withstand it? how many are willing to answer a phone call at 4am?

I know i may seem selfish by wanting this and that, but isn't everyone entitled to 'want' something and yearn for something? Am i not allowed to have a friend around the corner to hear me out and just stick by me and listen without saying a word til i'm done?

There are so many people on this planet and it just seems that i can never really find the right one. Why is this so? I mean i've got great friends who are always there, but i just need 1 friend to jump the next level with me. I'm not saying the people around me are not worthy of this or anything, i'm just saying that i haven't found the right one yet - the one that i'm utterly comfortable with.

Many of us laugh and joke but how many of us are willing to open up?

It's like the first day of school in shatec in 2005. Many were unwilling to go out and chill after the first day of meeting. However my first day in high school, our whole class hung out at the arcade after school and just fucked around til the evening. I guess this is an example of cultural differences. This is also a great way to portray, how many of us are willing to open ourselves up when we just met someone and showing the eagerness to become friends or acquaintances.

The western mindset and culture VS. The asian mindset and culture

Both cultures have their pros and cons. So i'm not trying to say that westerns are better than asians or vice-versa!

It's with that said that i may find it difficult to open to some because of cultural reasons, living conditions and background. Although my skin is yellow, my heart is white and this is what really makes a difference.

Quick post.

Sat night was quite fun. Got to hang out with some classmates at Eunice's B-day thingy at K-Box. Sang til 2am and headed to upper thompson for crispy prata. Oh oh oh, were they ever delicious. After that, we headed to Eunice's house to hang out, talk and just slack around. It was a fun time though, even though we were all falling asleep - some accomplished that *ahem* eunice? haha!

Today marked the first day back to school for Higher Diploma in Hotel Management Semester 2.

The books were pricey and some things were done that i felt were childish. I won' t discuss the issue because there really isn't much to say, except, what's done is done, period.

We've been in Shatec for so long, so there isn't much excitement for the first day of school or anything. I guess there's just more dreading and cussing in the morning when everyone needs to get to class.

Got back from HK yesterday afternoon.

The trip was..uh..alright?

Let's just say it wasn't the best and it wasn't what i was expecting.

Let's see..

the first day was already a tragedy. After landing, i had to wait for my dad at the airport for around 3-4hrs. After getting to the hotel, which was just horrible, we headed out to shop. So, my dad, being more of a shopping freak then me, headed to all his favorite shops. Meaning, i was just tagging a long the whole night. Luckily i got to skim away a bit and bought myself a bottle of cologne.

Day 2, we headed to Shenzhen, which i thought was gonna be a day trip, but was i wrong. After he met his clients and all, we took a train to Guangzhou. Oh man was i ever pissed! i wanted to get back to HK asap!

However, Guangzhou wasn't as bad as i thought because i got to experience my first mid-autumn festival celebration. After dinner and all, we headed shopping and again..i bought nothing.

Day 3, headed back to HK. Got back around 2:30pm and i went to have a late lunch with Inasa, whom i met in Singapore during my attachment at Raffles Hotel. Lunch was good, the talk was fun. Overall, i was just happy to be back in HK.

After that, i met up with my dad again and we headed down to Causeway Bay. I got to meet up with Vivian!!! oh man, was i so happy to see her! it's been like 3 yrs since i saw her and it was just wonderful. We went to have dinner at a thai restaurant and we talked and talked! it was amazing!

After dinner, we separated from my dad and went shopping. I finally got to buy something. After everything, we went back to Kowloon and i left my dad at the hotel to go to Temple street (which is like a night market) i didn't have much time, about 15min, to go shopping cuz a lot of the stands were closing up.

Day 4, woke up dirt early to get to the airport and hung around for about 3hrs before my flight left.

Overall, the trip was a bit boring and super sucky cuz i was with my dad. I had to sneak around to go for quick smokes and stuff. On top of that, my dad promised to get me a Nintendo DS or a PSP and a China made cell phone that can watch TV, but because of time constraints and all the time he was shopping, i didn't get the opportunity to go look around.

The highlight of the whole trip was...

I've always treated her like the sister i never had. It was just great to see how well she's doing and how much she has grown since we first met. the whole 5 hrs or so we were together was just amazing! When i get the pix from her, i'll upload them.

That was pretty much my whole trip, which felt super short by the way!

This post may seem like i'm desperate, so think what you think, but deep in my heart it's a journey, a mission.

It's been a long time since i've had the opportunity to share my thoughts, my love, my heart and my soul with someone. Everyday is a new day, hoping to search for the perfect one to hold a decent conversation with, share my feelings and thoughts, hold close within my arms and treasure the times.

I always talk a lot about sex and girls but my real friends will know that, it's just talk. I may per sway myself as some perverted jackass wannabe by the way i talk, but in the down-lo, i'm the complete opposite. I guess it's in my culture to be open-minded and my past friends that have molded me to who i am today. I'm glad i am the way i am. It defines me as someone unique and someone that is forthcoming.

No, to me, it's a search to finding someone special. Desperate may mean a lot of things, but in this context, desperate means trying to get laid as many times as possible before death. alright?

Think what you may. When it comes down to it, i'm just a simple guy trying to find that soul mate. I'm looking for someone that i can cherish and add joy into my life and vice-versa. It's been a hell of a long time, but it seems like the way i'm going now, it's gonna be quite awhile before any miracles happen. Desperation it may seem, but in reality, it's a mission to seek a greater height. It's a mission to a whole new world of humanity.

It's not a girlfriend that i seek, it's a partner for life. Girls can come and go, seriously, but that 1 special person to make you happy for the rest of your life, now that's a once and a lifetime opportunity.

I'm not rich, handsome or fit. I know! I know i have much more faults than many. However, I know i may not be the best candidate for any deserving girl, but i know deep within me, if they're worth ever second, i can defiantly try to be that guy.

this topic may have hit me because of my upcoming birthday, wishing to find someone special to share it with. If i was able to have 2 wishes this year, it would be to hold someone special in my arms or to have my friends from canada right next to me!

I miss the conversations i use to hold with some of my dearest friends in canada (ie. stella, maggie, wanda and ken) It was these people that brought a different scope on life and gave me something that not everyone is capable of. It is these people that have made a mass impact on me. I miss them! and i wish them all the best!

when i watched this i laughed! with the advancements in technology and computer graphics, this movie looks super cheap! The plot wasn't the greatest, the acting was alright, the fighting sucked but i STILL HAD A GREAT TIME WATCHING IT!!

it must be because i grew up during this era and i use to love playing the video game. If you were to compare this movie to say, transformers or spiderman, you'd be so shocked on how movies use to look like and how they are now.

I'm so glad movies turn out the way they do now, but i guess, going back to the more simple days once and awhile would be good too.

Just finished watching a movie called 'Spider Lilies'

It's a Taiwanese production, but i happened to have it in Cantonese.

This is a great film. I find the way it was directed and scripted quite unique. The way they portray tattoos in this movie, really bring a new insight on body art to my perception. Though the subjects are about homosexuality, the way they put the 2 actresses together, was just great.

There was a lot of controversy about this film when it came out. I guess it's the mindset behind the typical asians. However, many people disliked the film, not because of the content, but because of the story. I beg to differ. If you look at the movie at a more artistic point of view and some strong beliefs, then i am quite positive that everyone will enjoy this movie.

I was more shocked to see Isabella Leung in this movie. She's one of my favorite actresses from the HK movie industry. i would say she added a bit of spice to my interest when i watched the movie. Not forgetting the obviously cute Rainie Yang, which is one of my favorites in the Taiwan Industry as well.

You may think that my opinions to this movie is a bit biased because 2 of my favorites are starring in it. In this instance, i'll leave you with this...Just watch it if you don't believe me, nuff said!

Lycoris aurea: The golden flower is native to the northeastern coast of Taiwan. Local people call it the spider lily. Japanese legend has it that spider lilies line the path to hell, poisoning the memories of all who smell their scent, forming a bridge between the living and the dead.

Tattoo artist Takeko keeps a framed design of the spider lily flower on the wall of her parlor. The design was literally cut from the flesh of her father, after he was crushed to death in an earthquake. The image of the spider lily tattoo is the last cohesive memory of Takeko's traumatized brother, Ching, who is no longer able to recognize anyone, including his sister. Takeko has the same tattoo of the poisonous flower on her body in the hope of helping Ching remember and bridging the gap between them.

Webcam girl Jade visits Takeko's tattoo parlor, looking for sexy decoration to excite her clientele. Entranced by the tattoo of the spider lily on the wall, Jade gives Takeko her business card and invites her to visit her on her website where she professes her love for the tattoo artist. Finally, Jade asks Takeko to give her the same spider lily tattoo to bring her closer to the object of her desire.

I'm so sorry for the delay guys.

I've been so caught up with my recent project submissions and tests. However, you should be glad to hear that, i've finished 2 projects and all our required tests. So i have 2 more projects to complete and in 2 weeks or so, it's exam time..!

Alittle update, i haven't been really sleeping for the past 4 days. It was mostly due to doing last minute project stuff. But there were some times that it was all on me, for example, going to eunice's place to hang out all night. haha..it was fun and relaxing, so no regrets!

Back to Bintan. The trip was great. The villa was amazing, the buggy was a great bonus and the company was fantastic. I just wished we had more time. The activities and stuff were much more better than Nirwana (which is where i went the lat time). The best thing is that, the villa is quite facilitated so we didn't have to worry much. We spent our days playing ping pong, riding go-karts, taking photos, massages etc.

I HOPE to go back to Bintan again soon..but seriously speaking, who goes to Bintan 3 times a year? haha I guess i just like it alot cuz it's a quick get-a-way from the city and it isn't THAT expensive, if you source for the right package and choose the right period to go.

I spent about the same on this trip as the last, which was about 400+ but it isn't that expensive if you compare it to say, Bali or Phuket, though the destinations are better. Oh well, i was pretty satisfied, so whatever.......

Anyhoo..i gotta get some sleep quick time. It's 4am and i've just finished my video show for my presentation tmr..i'm only gonna get about 3 hrs of sleep or so..i'm totally screwed for tmr!

got a msg from a very good and old friend, Wanda.

she just graduated from the Vancouver Film School (VFS). I was so happy to hear from her on facebook. We use to talk about everything, from problems to happy times. Since moving here, i haven't seen her in about 3 yrs and to think it's been so long, saddens me. Though we do have our occasional phone calls, it's just not the same.

Memories like, picking her up for dinner, talking in the car and smoking, going for jitz, movies and whatever, all just came back and it just well, overwhelmed me.

I'm so proud of her. seeing some of her work really brought tears to my eyes and made me so happy. To think, we never knew what we wanted to do with our lives, and now, being able to accomplish something, really brings joy.

To Wanda, I LOVE YOU, with all my heart and soul! I'm proud of you and your accomplishments. Remember, i'm always here for ya so give me a ring or better yet, get on a plane and come to Singapore, haha lol!

I believe i'm a mix of both.

I've always been an extrovert. I always take peoples energy and use it to my advantage. Making not only myself happy but, hopefully making the people around me happier as well. I've always been quite sociable and i love the act of interacting with people; it's just in my nature. Many may agree some may not, but that judgment would be based on a majority of perceptions and mentalities.

However, this post is more related to the issues that have been on my mind recently.

Recently, i've been very introvert. I always have been. I like to spend quite times, alone and in private. Perhaps that's the reason i choose to live alone and at times just stay home and relax without disturbance. I believe this state of extreme introverting is the cause of my insomnia. I don't say it, but alot of things are bothering me and are getting on my nerves. It's nothing with the ppl around me, or the things i do on a daily basis. It's more to the past, holding on to something i wanna let go. There are many dark secrets that many don't know, and it will probably stay like that for eternity. I always tell myself over and over:

"never regret your past and look back. Look forward to what i gain for my future."

and

"Take life 1 mile a day, and never think about tmr, as life is too short."

Initially i thought i was just suffering from some kind of medical concern, but after some deep soul searching and thinking, i realized that all the problems lie within myself. There are things that i guess i will never be able to let go, which is normal, but i just need to stay strong and positive and continue my journey of life. This was the path that I chose, the future i'm making for myself and the way i see it is i'm doing the best for myself, my future, my career and my future family. This may sound like i'm a conceded motherfucker, but it's the truth, we all want the best for ourselves and we all do what we do for ourselves. No one can steer us wrong, unless we want them to.

So, you may think i'm a hypocrite, cuz i'm contradicting my values and beliefs. But it's in human nature to have emotional feelings and attachment. These values and beliefs have helped me far beyond your imagination, so what's a little stress and insomnia once and awhile. If i go through a phase 2 to 3 times a year, at least for the rest of the time i'm happy and stress-free.

Now, that i have these issues and problems stated, i feel better. I let myself loose, think about the good and bad times of my past. It not only leavened a whole lot of stress but it made me feel good. Knowing that i control my feelings and thoughts and resolving my personal issues alone, makes me not only feel a sense of accomplishment but it makes me feel stronger and more independent.

Thx for reading this long and tedious post. Sorry if i have bored you. (That's if you've actually took the time out to read it or not lol)

Shocked nerves!

GOD DAMN FUCKING NERVES!!!

they're all shocked up. I haven't slept since 11pm Sunday night. I got 2 hrs of sleep..that's IT!!!!

I've been trying to sleep, on my bed, chair, and even on the living room floor. NOTHING SEEMS TO BE FUCKING WORKING!!

I hope i can get some sleep a bit later on, it's going to be 24hrs in about 3 and a half hrs.

On top of all the insomnia, i gotta put up with all the fucking fires going off in the neighborhood. The smoke is killing my breathing and my eyes. I gotta keep replenishing them every hour or so.

I know it's 'hungry ghost festival' and all, but don't they have special places for these things? i mean really, it is a tad dangerous too, to have open flames everywhere. It was this time last year that the void deck beneath me went on firs and caused my whole unit to turn black.

argh...pissed..how long does this festival end?

On another note, i'm quite pleased with my accounts test today. I think i can actually PASS accounts this semester lol. Intro. to Accounts was a disaster, so let's hope i can buck up and do well for my Managerial Accounts.

I think i flunked my Macroecons test. The signs all seem so positive haha. Damn, i really need to buck up on the rest of the subjects to cover up my weak ones.

I have insomnia right now..

i'm super tired but just can't fall asleep. It's like 8:30am and i'm stuck staring at the television and computer screen. It's been like this all night.

Perhaps, it's all the sleep i've been getting.Who knows! I just know it's a bitch when i can't get comfortable in bed and fall asleep.

Stayed up all night watching Bourne Identity, Bourne Supremacy, New Police Story and God of Cookery. My eyes are sore and i can't get them to stay shut. one word: FUCK!

I watched Legend of Speed starring Ekin Cheng last night. it brought back SO SO SO SO much friggin' memories. I have no idea why, but i got the same feelings as when i watch the young and dangerous series'. Perhaps it's just one of those things. you know what i mean?

anyways, back on topic. This week has been so stressful with the migraine and thinking about the upcoming project submissions. Damn, i feel like i'm falling behind. Schools pretty much in a slump, missing class and fucking up my tests.

I NEED TO BUCK UP ASAP!!

Anyhoo..gonna go and watch another movie to see if i can just fall asleep on my chair from over-drainage of energy lol.

Migraine

Dying of a serious migraine. Slept pretty much all day ytd and all day today.

Elliott says "You have spider webs all over yourself" which i agree with. I'm feeling much better now, but i do get the occasional thumps in my head. The meds that the doc gave me are fucking strong. One tablet and in the next 20 min, i'm knocked out for hours.

Couldn't even get up to take a piss this morning, i just held it in and went back to sleep. God dammit! i feel like such a bum. On top of everything, i've missed 2 days of school. I'm missing a lot recently, i gotta get back on track asap!

went to watch Knocked Up on Monday with Aisah and Thomas.

FUCKING AMAZING FLICK!! one of the funniest movies i have ever seen!!

The way that they slam and diss each other, really really reminds me of how i and my friends use to talk to each other back home in T.O.

Funny flick, great laughs and a touching story of a fucked up fat guy! Though i was laughing at a lot of the jokes, when the cinema was still quiet, i totally enjoyed myself haha! (I think they didn't get some of the jokes)

[Song] Sean Kingston - Beautiful Girl (Remix)

These 3 movies that will be listed below, are movies i've just watched on vcd. I wanted to blog about them, because these movies blew my mind. Amazing story line, acting and as well, casting.

First up, Die Hard 4.0: Live Free or Die Hard.

Starring: Bruce Willis

one word: WHOA!

This movie smoked the shit out of me. Full of action throughout the film and laughter in just the right time. Great cast, story and action! If you haven't watched this yet, then my advice GO OUT AND GET THE DVD OR SOMETHING!

It was great to see Bruce Willis do his shit on screen again. The previous trilogy of Die Hard was amazing. Now with the Die Hard 4.0 added to that collection, it's the best boxset to get!

What i really like about this movie, is the technology they used to incorporate into the story. The tech stuff was great, the action made it better. Sorry folks, i'm a nerd when it comes to computers =) i love tech films. I.E. Hackers and The Net.

MUST WATCH, IF YOU HAVEN'T YET!

Secondly, The Perfect Stranger.

Starring: Bruce Willis and Halle Berry

This movie was a shocker. The story line was wickedly written and very well directed. Halle Berry, was great! As for Bruce, i'd prefer him in a action flick.

This movie was mind-blowing. I don't wanna say much cuz i don't wanna ruin it for you guys. Just take my advice and WATCH IT, especially if you like those semi-thrillers and mystery type flicks.

Lastly, The Number 23.

Starring: Jim Carrey

I was VERY VERY skeptical to watch this movie. Maybe because i couldn't picture jim carrey in a horror movie. But this movie isn't a horror, the poster was deceiving. Actually, it's a mystery, thriller.

WELL WELL written, and Jim Carrey played the part very well. It was a shocking flick as well, but it's one of those movies you wouldn't watch again. Go out and rent it though! it would be worth it. The story line was a tad twisted, but it's what made the movie good i guess.

The creativity in the writing of the script was flawless. The way the writer put everything together was superb. Jim Carrey has put a new perception in me. He isn't just some movie comedian but he's also very very good in thriller movies, depending on what part he's playing though haha!

FINALLY FINALLY FINALLY!!!

I caught the Simpson's movie! Oh my fucking god!

it was pure laughs the whole way through, pure simpson styles yo!

Watching homer, bart, lisa, marge, maggie, apu, mr burns, flanders, etc etc etc. on THE BIG SCREEN was just amazing!

I had the exact same feelings when i watched TMNT 2007. It was another childhood take back. With my jaw wide open and non-stop laughing, it's what made me feel comfortable, taking me back to when there were no worries and threats in life.

I pray that there will be a sequel, i really do!

I've watched SO MANY RE-RUNS of the simpsons cartoon episodes, but i never seem to feel disappointed or bored. It always seems to be so fucking entertaining that it's just amazing. It's amazing how the creators can keep their viewers entertained with the same old episodes. just spectacular.

I believe that my childhood is almost complete on screen. I'm just missing thundercats i think haha! However, imagine this, 30yrs from now, when i'm 53 yrs old, they re-release a whole new movie of transformers, tmnt and simpsons.

IT WOULD BE THE ILLEST SHIT AROUND!

I'm sure for the 2 hrs or so on the big screen, all the white hair i grow will disappear for that time and make me feel super young, yet again!

Dragon Boys

Dragon Boys is a 2 part mini series/movie from Canada.

I don't rmb if i actually blogged about this before, but my records didn't pull anything up so...ya i'm here to inform y'all (again).

This is a production made in Vancouver, Richmond and Langly, BC. It involves an international cast as well. This series discuss's the issues of the Asian-community in Canada.

Organized crime in canada has grown within the chinese community over the years so this series takes people in deeper on what asians go through in canada. On top of that, you see how triads in canada run their shit, which is the true insight of the film.

I love the flick cuz it really portrays what the asian's go through, if not do. Things over in canada can seem so bright and prosperous but one wrong move or decision can mean a whole other story. Trust me when i say, nothing in this world is great! i've seen it, been there and done it!

It reminded me a bit of my past and what i went through as a teen. 2 characters in the film really bring myself back, to when i was running around on the streets of Toronto. These triad stories may seem a tad extreme, but believe me, they can and will happen.

CBC aired this show back in december or so and has made lots of controversy and took people by storm. If you do want to watch this, i have the vcd, so let me know.

It was a great series! a must watch! it's about 4 hrs long and i heard their will be a sequel to it, which i can't wait!

The Results Show

So..curious on what happened at the Bartender's of the Year (BYC) gala dinner on Wednesday night?

well..i'm glad to announce that i got 2ND PLACE for the BYC student category. "Golden Salutations" will follow me down as an experience of a lifetime.

So during the dinner, there were LOADS of bartenders, flairers and people with years of experience from the industry. Over 30 tables were setup at the Goodwood park Windsor room. With 4 large pull down screens displaying the final events from Clarke Quay on Tuesday.

The best part of the whole dinner, besides getting to meet new friends and all, was FREE FLOW ALCOHOL!!!!! w00t!

There were suppliers displaying their products and giving away free drinks. For example, the Choya Martini was a great insight on inspiration and making a new cocktail from a base that has been loved by millions world wide.

The dinner wasn't that good, but the experience gained from the whole thing and the accomplishment's that i achieved was more than enough. I MAY join again next year, but not for the student category anymore, this time it will be the open category. The open category will be much more difficult and much much more challenging. So, lots of thought has to go in before i decide anything.

After the dinner, a bunch of us headed to China 1 @ Clarke Quay. Played some pool, drank and hung out.

After that, we headed to Dragon Fly @ St. James Power Station and well, drank some more.

Got pretty buzzed when i took the cab home. Everything just rushed up at one time lol. Luckily, i still made it home safe and sound. Got home super late and hence no school for the second time in a row.

BYC Finals

So, last night was the finals of the Bartender's of the Year (BYC) Competition.

I arrived at around 4:20pm. The crew was still setting up so i stood aside and waited.

Until about 6:30pm, when i started seeing friends come down and a crowd standing by, my heart started to pump.

I was quite confident, replaying the steps in my head and trying not to fret. I thought it would be alot easier this time as i didn't have to look at a specific crowd, I could have looked far into the back.

So, after getting my garnish ready, finish setting up my tray i was set for stand by.

I was the first contestant up, with the second finalist beside me showing off our skills together at the same time.

However, after getting up on the stage, with the crowd staring at us and the lights shining in our faces, my confidence disappeared and fear took over.

Friends and support were cheering on and i was doing my cocktail, the overwhelmed crowd took me by surprise and i blacked out for a second.

I FORGOT TO MUDDLE MY APPLE CUBES! for christ sakes. I was so upset. I'm sure i lost alot of points for that. I hope that all will work out though, as the final results will be announced tonight! Overall, i believe i did quite well. I think the showmanship was there and the taste is what will make me rise above the rest, hopefully!

I felt so bad and disappointed when i got off the stage. I was in a blank for awhile until my friends came up to me and started giving me a pat on the shoulders! it was nice to know who was there to share the moment with me. It is a memory i will never forget!

Cocktail Competition!

On Saturday 21st July 2007, I joined the Student Category for the Bartender's of the Year Competition. The result was spectacular. I gained the chance to enter the finals which will happen at Clarke Quay on Tuesday 24th July 2007.

As i was preparing for this competition, i was getting utterly nervous. I never expected it to be that bad as i was quite calm for the whole week. While i was preparing my garnishes and utensils, i was getting a tad intimidated by some of the other contestants. However, with the support of my friends around, i managed to keep my cool, remember my concoction and perform better than i expected.

I would like to thank Aisah, Fabian and Hui Bin for being there and giving me support and advice when needed.

I would like to extended a special thanks to Elliot, who helped me throughout the competition. He guided me with the procedures of excellent showmanship and helped me with the garnish and concoction. Thank you so much for sticking by me. I know that i could have worked a lot harder on my smile and shake. I hope i haven't let you down.

After being entered to the finals, i had a great sense of relief and a even greater sense of accomplishment. I heard one of the judges say that "we should find out where this guy works" when i was doing my cocktail. This made me even more nervous (lol). I almost lost my sense of concentration. However, i'm very proud of myself and i'm glad that i can go up on stage once again at Clarke Quay in front of an even larger and more difficult crowd.

I was SUPER happy when one of the judges came up to me and started talking to me about my drink and bartending. He said out of the whole competition, he would only buy 2 of the drinks, which included mine. He gave me tips about cocktails in general and tips on how to remain calm during the performance (i was shaking a lot when i was pouring the alcohol in to the jiggler). He was a former editor for Wine and Dine magazine, which made me happier as he could back up what he said; He had the credentials to speak with experience. After, he made a speech to the contestants and it really made a lot of sense. For example, making a drink with complex concoctions doesn't mean it will be a good drink, simple can be just as great.

The drink was named "Golden Salutations" the concoction consisted of

Muddled apple cubes (I used Fuji apples, but any will do as well)

The drink (in my opinion) is a tad sour and sweet. The color is light golden with a hint of red flowing up.

Alan's opinion was too much alcohol, that was when i was testing it out. I am proud to say that it has improved a lot since then. I hope everyone that tried it liked it, if not i hope they would tell me, so i may improve it for the future.

Anyhoo, i was quite upset when one of my trainer's came up to me asking me to change my steps and name of cocktail. He said i had too many steps because it made room for errors, which i thought was a tad insulting. I thought this competition was to show our skills and drink, not to cut out some steps. This kind of bothered me for awhile, but fret not, i will not be listening to him and i will stick to my old procedures. However, he and 1 of the judges suggested i change the name of the drink, which i will, probably to what Elliott said "beautiful goodbyes." I have this thought that my trainer asked me to skip steps because he was afraid i may bring my schools reputation down because i show that i'm nervous and un-calm. However, he also said that besides being faster, that the tasting portions would be more consistent, which is true. So, i was a bit confused but i'm sure with a bit more practice at home, i should be able to pour out just the right amount, i hope! =)

Now, to me, this was more than a competition or a drink, to me it was a sense of accomplishment and happiness.

star wars vs star trek

normally when you associate star wars or star trek, you wouldn't combine the both.

Many fans of star wars dislike star trek and vice-versa. I use to think this was weird. I never liked star trek and i always thought star wars was a bit boring.

But why argue? who knows...

However, since the times of being a kid, that perception has changed.

I am officially a (semi) fan of Star Wars.

How did it happen? well, let me tell you.

I was at Sembawang music store and i saw a boxset for sale. Yup, that's right! it was the star wars boxset. I told myself, since i had nothing to do, why not go home and download it for the sake of adding it to my collection.

Hence, I downloaded all 6 episodes and i started burning them.

After watching star wars I(episode 1) i was addicted! i couldn't get over not continuing.

I'm not so sure why that happened, but after completing the 6th episode, i can happily say that, i am a (semi) star wars fan.

But Richie if your a fan why put "semi" in front of star wars?

the answer is, Yes, i do like to watch the series BUT however, i will never get so engrossed in it. Meaning i wouldn't go out and start buying action figures or clothing of star wars.

If it was TMNT, transformers, thundercats or simpsons figurines, that would be another case.

I'm not too sure why people argue about star wars and star trek but for me, i know i would never start a debate over it, especially with those nerdy kids who are so into it.

Everyone has wants and needs

Wants are objects that you don't really need. Eg. a car

Needs are objects that you use frequently. Eg. toothpaste

Materialistic objects can make people go crazy. For example, buying that new video game console that just released. As humans, do we really desire to purchase overpriced items for our daily needs/routines?

We probably don't, but it's the way these products are being marketed that we THINK we do. All the new designs, technologies and items that are now available on the market make it so hard to choose. Years ago, during our parents' era, they probably didn't have much to choose on. It was either 'that or this.'

In order to facilitate our lives all we really need are our basic needs. For example, shampoo, mattress etc. But do we ever consider buying a new mattress when they come out with something more advanced? or do we ever think about buying that new shampoo because it smells better? again, probably not.

It's because of these multi-million dollar corporations that our so called 'needs' are actually thought of as 'wants.' We don't need to buy that brand new HD tv ready lcd television screen to watch tv, we can do it with the old type of television sets. so is it in our normal human nature to desire? the answer is YES!

We are so blinded that we don't realize that we have been sucked into their schemes.

my needs are simple,

basic toiletries
television
internet
food
clothes
fluids (H2O, soda etc.)
and money

but my wants are so much more greater than that. To name a few;

LCD tv
new computer
a car
a house
dvd recorder
dvd handycam

and the list goes on...

These 'wants' are usually overpriced items if you can tell. 'Needs' are usually not a costly.

I'm posting this entry because i feel that alot of people don't know how to tell the difference between wants and needs. Also, to prove a fact that we as humans, all have our desires. The desire to show off our latest cell-phones and the desire to show our competent wealth.

No one would go up to you and say 'Hey, look, my new toothpaste guarantees whiter teeth in 14 days.' right?
